I'm curious - for those CDing, what is your laundry routine, and what kind of diapers are you using?
About 2 days ago I started playing around with some of our cloth stash (currently they're all loaners from two different friends). Little miss Kate (2 weeks old now) has turned into quite the super-soaker and that, combined with the fact that she has a narrow little butt and can wiggle her disposable diapers halfway down her bum with impressive ease, has meant she's soaked through several outfits in the last week. I am LOVING that she doesn't soak through the cloth (I've been using infant-sized prefolds folded and laid in either hybrid covers or thirsties covers)!!! However... I'm having trouble figuring out the best laundry routine. I've tried lots of different wash cycles, water temps, etc. I am washing them using soap nuts (which were recommended by the friend loaning me all the prefolds) and I also tried a scoop of oxi-clean in a presoak... however, even after all that soaking & washing there are STILL some yellow stains on some of the prefolds.
We are almost but not quite EBFing. We're doing one small formula bottle a night, but Kate's poop seems so far to be classic BF baby poop - mustard yellow, seedy and runny. So I don't think it's the formula... just the intense yellow color of the poop! I spray the diapers with bac-out after she poops in them and then put them in to soak. The past few days it's been grey and rainy, but once the sun shows its face again I think I'll string up a line outside to see if I can sun out the remaining stains.
Anyway - any tips? Anyone else had this problem? My friend who is loaning me the prefolds reassured me that she doesn't mind stains (hallelujah) but I know I'll feel bad if I can't get the stains out of her diapers!
ETA - it doesn't help that Kate is only 2 weeks and so pretty much EVERY diaper is a poopy one at the moment...
