Pregnancy Test Lines not getting any darker...

Has this happened to anyone?  I took three cheapo (the little test strips you did into the urine) tests on Tuedays and a second line was there but barely visibly, Wednesday still barely visible so I bought a digital which did say 'pregnant' but now today I took another cheapo test expecting to have a more visible second line and its still barely there.

Hoping to go for bloodwork today because I can't deal with this uncertainty!  I need to have bloodwork done anyway for low progesterone in the past.  Since its Thursday they probably won't get results until Monday.  So hard to be patient!

*HUGS* I don't really know much about how that works. I was wondering myself whether a lighter or darker line on the test actually means anything.

It could just be that your urine is more diluted. Do you drink a lot of water? Are you using the first urine in the morning?

I hope it turns out everything is fine!

It took about a week for mine to get darker. I believe HCG doubles every certain number of days in the beginning, but the numbers are so low to begin with that double is not a lot more.  Early pregnancy is weird and uncertain, with my first two pregnancies I never really felt sure I was pregnant until about 6 weeks when I got ill.  Before that everything was normal, except the positive tests.  *hugs*

PS, I Googled this, and the darkness of the line can also be affected by variations in the amount of dye in the test. So it could be that the tests you have just don't have as much dye in them, or the test you used today could have less dye than the one you used on Tuesday.

I went for bloodwork today.  Hopefully we'll get the results tomorrow :)

To add to what michelleepotter said about the dye in the tests... What goes with that is that hpt are qualitative, not quantitative. It's just measuring whether hcg is there or not, and not how much hcg. So the lines will not necessarily be conistent in terms of how dark they are. I had to look this up a couple of weeks ago, because I had the same thing happen to me-- the second day I tested, the line didn't seem as dark as the day before. It was very worrisome, but once I read that information online, I felt much better. Hopefully you get good news from the bloodwork very soon!

My midwife said my numbers looked "great" so here I go again... tempted to take one more cheapo test just the see if the line would be darker by now... lol.

I'm glad your numbers are good! I have another test from the two pack I got, but I've been afraid to freak myself out by taking another test, lest the line be fainter or something.

^^ This. I am in the same boat too. I've been using up my HPTs and the lines are not getting any darker either. I think it has more to do with the quality/sensitivity of the test than anything else.

I'm so glad to read that your bloodwork results looked good!

So I did take my last cheapo test this morning.  The line has gotten darker over the last week.  I think they are 12 dpo vs 19 dpo.
