Does leaky gut while pregnant affect baby?
I don't have specific sources and I am terrible at remembering where I learned things so all this is, "from what I understand", please take it as such. Both my kids have food sensitivities. Yes, the mother's gut health does impact the baby. Babies gut flora is established from the mother. The only two things I have read repeatedly that seem to help are probiotics and the vit.d levels of the mother, especially in the 3rd trimester. So lots of probiotics (for you during and after pregnancy AND for baby)! And making sure your vit. d levels are up, especially in the the third trimester can help because it is immune related. Also, obviously avoiding further antibiotics use for you and baby. Also, avoiding a c-section if at all possible since gut flora is actually ingested during vaginal birth and antibiotics are given routinely during c-sections.
