In the last week or so my 23 month old daughter has started stuttering. And within that time it has got quite a lot worse. Beginning of sentences, repeating sounds "w-w-w-w-what's Mummy doing?" kind of thing. She started talking early and has been speaking in fluent sentences for months already. And she's a big talker - always chattering to us about what's going on. I've been doing some reading and generally I'm gathering we should just wait but I guess I'm looking for other people's experiences. I really hope it is a passing thing for her - of course she is too young to really notice and I hope it doesn't frustrate her, but later on.... I noticed a few times when she started to say something and then just stopped after the stutter, and that worries me a little.
When I read about stuttering starting because of stress I worry too - I don't think there is anything going on that would cause that. She has just reached the stage where we are having a few "melt-downs" (nothing remarkable, and probably pretty standard toddler wise) around transitions during our day, and the onset of those was pretty much the same time as the stuttering started, but no other big changes in our life.
Anyway, would love to hear you thoughts/experiences. Especially if they involve anything we should/shouldn't be doing. thanks!
