"I'm in labor!" thread - May 2013 DDC - Page 6

Congrats! Our DDC is so good at picking baby names.

I've kind of just been lurking here, so pardon the late arrival, but my official due date was yesterday and nothing here yet. My original due date wasn't until May 20, so I may still have a ways to go. But my first baby was 37 weeks, 3 days when I went into labor, so even by the later due date this is a longer pregnancy. I've been at at least 3 cm for two weeks, so living between "it could be any minute" and "it could still be weeks" is a bit tricky. Anyway, it's exciting to be here and see other mamas make it through the waiting and the labor to the baby. We'll get there in good time, I know.

I lost my mucus plug twice in that last 4 weeks, as it can regenerate. Then the day I turned 41 weeks I went into labor for real on my way home from my midwife appointment. I "knew" within a few contractions that it was the real deal this time. My total labor from that point was 9 hours and only 20 min of pushing a 9lb8oz baby with a nuchal arm. So prodromal labor doesn't always mean a very quick labor. I wouldn't worry too much about it and just try to rest and prepare as much as you can.

I'm currently 39w+3 and so far NOTHING, but I've been taking magnesium for leg cramps and I think that has helped to stop the prodromal labor from happening this time. I've stopped the magnesium for now though as I don't want to be so relaxed in my muscles that labor never starts.

Lynann,

Thank you for sharing that.  All I keep reading about are super quick labors after prodromal labors and it terrifies me.  I have lost my plug once, and I know it's regenerating...sigh.  Seems like this is never going to happen!  I also cut down on the Magnesium, I only take it at night just to help me sleep.  Seems to be working out OK.  Did you take EPO?  I have 2 sources, one saying take it, the other saying don't because it increases cervix contractions....

I did the EPO last time and still went to 41 weeks, even with all that prodromal labor. I'm not taking it this time. I got so tired of all the different supplements by the end last time, so I'm keeping it to a minimum this go around.

This time I'm just taking it easy and not stressing about the when for now. We are having lots of sex to keep things moving, but otherwise I'm just going to let it take its natural course. Since my previous babies were 40+5 & 41+1 I'm guessing it will be another week or two before this one decides to come out (I'm 39+4 today) even if I would like it to be sooner rather than later.

I think I might be in prodromal labor... not active labor yet. Having mild contractions that I'm tracking on my app. Every 30 minutes for about 1 minute and a half long. Really hoping things speed up, I do not want to feel this way for days. So uncomfortable.

Hope things speed up for you!

I am just so miserable right now! I feel restless but at the same time feel so exhausted. The BH are increasing and I've lost my mucous plug (not that it means much) my bowels seem to be clearing as well. I haven't had much of an appetite. And I just feel crampy and icky all the time. My cervix is soft and 1.5cm dilated. I'm 38 weeks tomorrow. My first was born at 38 weeks, so here's hoping I don't have to endure this much longer!

Thank you! Nipple stimulation really kicked things into high gear for me. It might work for some of you others who are waiting still, so hook up those breast pumps!

I've been thinking about this ... may give it a try tonight if nothing happens before then. I've been able to express small amounts of colostrum by hand which is pretty awesome and makes me feel like a full-on mammal (yeah, I'm a biology geek... shy.gif)

Not so miserable anymore over here. The BH aren't as frequent anymore, either that or I've gotten used to them. I don't feel icky really anymore. I'm thinking I had a little bug or something. Because I feel 10 times better today than I did at the beginning of the week. I was wishing all those signs were leading to labor, but alas.. I am still here.. With no more signs. This might take longer than I thought!

I think I can post without jinxing it ... contractions are averaging 10 minutes apart, about a minute long. Some of them are doozies. I am not having very much fun - diarrhea and I also barfed at about 5:30 this morning. I keep feeling hot, then cold, hot, cold. Thinking maybe a long shower is a good idea.

Anyone else hashing it out right now?

Contractions have been steady since 3am this morning. Should be welcoming a baby on this beautiful day!

As a woman pushing her stroller said to me outside my apartment on my first of many labor walks, "get it done, sister!"

ctrx tapered off to irregular late morning. still, lots of cramps, backache, and the random ctrx left me kind of worn out. nightime again and we're back to stronger more regular ctrx. i wasnt expecting prodromal ctrx to be this hard or long (2 minutes). feeling a little discouraged, trying to stay chill. thanks all for the good wishes...
