Good to know.

I meant pinching the nipple (not with her hands) smile

Oh man... Ginny is chomping occasionally and I can only think that it must just be part of her teething. I don't have any idea how to stop it though. I think they are too young to "take away" the boob.

I'm wondering if I should be worried about this. For the last couple of days I've had a sharp pinching type pain under my left breast occasionally. It feels as if it's where my breast meets my body if you know what I mean. I can't tell if it's a pinched nerve or if I should be worried about something different. Can anyone relate?

Are you wearing an underwire bra? If so, try going wire free. I had that once, and was actually a benign tumor. I had it removed and pain was gone. Maybe do a thorough check.

No underwire bras at all. And I really rubbed around the area last night when it was happening. I didn't feel anything which makes me wonder if it's a pinched nerve. It's just annoying and uncomfortable!

Tiffany, I have had that on the left side off and on, seems kind of frequent to me. Really uncomfortable shooting pain. I don't know when/why, though. Don't think I had it with DD.

I did some rather uncomfortable rubbing in the area and it seems to have done the trick. Mine was on my left side as well and I believe it was a pinched nerve. Much better now!

I have the same thing, Tiffany, and on the left side, as well. Usually, if I rub it, it will eventually go away. No underwire here (actually, the last couple days, no bra at all. :bag: ), and don't feel anything when I was checking around.

Gray just latched on WITHOUT the nipple shield! He is nursing all by himself without it! I'm so happy I could cry! orngbiggrin.gif

Bambi, that is so awesome! Big congrats to you for sticking with it!!

I left Bea home with BF this morning (she was napping) so I could run to work and try to get a little something done. BF said he'd call when she woke up and wanted to nurse. I get home 2-1/2 hours later to find she's been awake almost the whole time, and that he's given her a bottle from my (very small) pumped stash! I'm thrilled!! I've been so worried that she wouldn't take a bottle from him, or that he'd give up trying to give her one. And now I've got to start pumping more regularly to build up that stash!

Bambi - awesome!! Go Gray!!

Mayday - that's great! I'm sure that's a relief for you!

Ahh! Since Gray started nursing without the shield, I have actually started to enjoy breastfeeding. Up until now, I absolutely hated it. I only stuck with it because I hate giving up on things and the health benefits were worth it to me. Now that he nurses without the shield, though, I'm sore again. Like when I first started breastfeeding. I think I just need to toughen up. I don't think he has a bad latch. It looks right and there's no clicking or anything. But it feels like we are starting all over.

Bambi I would just stick with it for a little while longer. With Silas I was sore a good 2 weeks. To the point I would cry and hated nursing him it hurt so bad. I thought it was due to a bad latch as well, but the pain completely went away and he has the same latch. So glad he's nursing with out the shield now too!

Hang it there Bambi! It took us eight miserable and long weeks to get there. But we are here, and its awesome. Good luck.

Well, I was SO excited that Gray learned to nurse without the shield and thought we were doing good... I have been pumping a lot and he has been staying with his nana for about three or four hours three or four times a week while I work. He's gotten so used to bottles that he just decided he doesn't want to nurse anymore. :( I'm trying so hard to get him to nurse but he just gets frustrated. I'm SOOOO sad!!!!!

LO has started pulling my nipple while staying attached. (I read that this was because I have a forceful amount of milk coming out). Any remedies?

Try having LO nurse uphill to relieve the pressure of the letdown.
