The Baby-Sure-Seems-Comfy-In-There Thread

Well, my babe seems quite content in his current location. His big sister was being born this day during my last pregnancy. But no signs of labor thus far. I'm OK with that, as I'm actually feeling more comfortable these days than I was a few weeks ago. But I know I can't be the only one feeling a little left out of all the labor and baby excitement.

So, if you're still a ways off from your due date, or even past your DD but showing no signs of labor, chime in! :)

This is my thread right here!  I am still 8 days away from my due date, and I don't feel like this baby is going anywhere anytime soon.  I don't think she's dropped, I'm not having any contractions, barely any braxton hicks.  Etc, etc.  I had a little "burst of energy" the last few days and have been doing light cleaning and going for short walks, but I'm really not very energetic and am just as likely to be napping.  LOL.  So yeah, I'm right there with you, IronMam...

Eh, and I'm in no hurry either.  DP has to wrap up a big project at work on monday, so I'd rather wait til after that.  Although my house is getting slowly messier and messier.  dizzy.gif

I'm 41w4d today, and babe has not made a break for it yet. Midwives said I wasn't even dilated as of Tuesday. greensad.gif

My DD is on Sunday, and while baby's head is low, midwife can't even tell how dilated I am, she said I'm effaced, but my cervix is still waaaaaaaaay up there irked.gif

I'm miserable, I think between 2 toddlers and not being able to clean even though I -want- to, add in just being huge, I'm over this crap haha.

Bummer! We're texting partners for the labor thread aren't we? Maybe we'll end up texting each other at the same time. lol

Other than impatient, how are you feeling? I hope you're not too uncomfortable.

Cylamen, our place is getting messier and messier too. I felt proud of myself for running a load in the dishwasher today. lol  Fortunately, the free house cleaners come tomorrow, but I'm going to have to find the energy to unclutter everything so they CAN clean first. I don't know WHAT I'd do if I hadn't won that contest. I keep hoping I'll have one more burst of nesting energy before the big day. And I think I may have to just accept that I'm not going to be doing a hypnobirth. I'm so behind, I don't think it's possible to catch up.

Well I am showing plenty of "signs" of labor but obviously it's taken me nowhere (for the 4th pg in a row) so don't feel bad!  For me, physically, even on my worst days this time is a cakewalk compared to last time, so the battle is mostly emotional.  And my FIL just voiced concerns about me going overdue much at all with my Hashi's and the way it presents in me as opposed to most other patients (he is the most educated doctor on thyroid issues that I have ever met...well, on pretty much ANY issue...been practicing for 50+ years and the man has been blessed with so much knowledge and experience that it boggles my mind!!!).  It's actually the same concern I've had since the beginning, so it was nice to feel validated and also surprising because in all my pregnancies he's never really said or asked anything because there was never a reason.  So that's helped us get a little direction on some things at this point, too.

Still 9 sleeps away from the DD here, and no real signs of labor that I can claim. Last Saturday I thought I felt a big change...had a lot of "different" contractions (deeper, crampier, more regular, etc.), but since then there's been less than nothing exciting. I do think the baby dropped that night, but s/he seems to be just as comfy in the new position as before!

I did get a TON of cleaning done today, though, so I'm feeling pretty darn good. The only things left to do are clean out the fridge, restock on groceries, get some wine (for celebrating!), aaaand then...wait. I found a couple of old fortune cookie fortunes while I was cleaning my desk today; they read "You are about to embark on a most delightful journey!" and "This coming Friday will be an exciting time for you.", which really made me giggle. Whether or not it's realistic, it's kind of fun to imagine going into labor tomorrow as a possibility, lol. And it was a super nice reminder that this WILL be a most delightful journey, regardless of how difficult and tedious it might seem now!

Anyhow. Big (((HUGS))) to everybody who's still hanging in there. I let my kids watch movies all day today so that I could actually get stuff done, take a shower, have *me* time, and even take a nap...and I don't feel nearly as guilty about it as I probably should. :P I feel rather recharged, really! Which will hopefully be good for everybody and lead to more stress-free days which will lead quickly to BABY DAY! :D

Been there, done that.

You know what...I think most people have (even if they don't like to admit it because they don't want to be judged). And I say, if it's not an everyday thing, then no biggie. No reason to feel guilty. One of our family mottos is "everything in moderation, including moderation." ;)

I felt like baby had dropped earlier in the pregnancy (started feeling more pressure on the cervix, more bonks, etc.)...but lately? It's like he moved back up or something. I keep waiting to feel him drop again, and to see mucus plug, or *something* to indicate things are going to start happening in the next couple of weeks. But other than mild crampiness from time to time, I've got nothing. It's weird, because as of this weekedn, this will be the longest I've ever been pregnant. :)

Omphaloskepsis, that is what kids shows were invented for!!!  LOL.  We totally have "movies days" at my house.  I schedule them.  Every friday, movies.  One if I am feeling good and have plans, more if I am tired or need to get stuff done, lol.

Anyhow, I had my 39w appt today, met a new midwife.  She was very nice.  She did tell me if I'm still pg next week, then I have to schedule a NST for the following week (41) and we'll have to start talking about induction if the placenta is not doing well.  I'm not too concerned since I don't think they will want to induce for its own sake, but only if things are not looking good with the NST.  Still.  I was like, "You know, I went almost 2 weeks overdue last time."

I was feeling a little crampy last night, for about 10-15 minutes.  I think bb was changing positions.  She was ROA for the last few weeks, today she was ROP.

Anyhow, I'm making some RRL tea, asking baby to move over to LOA, and gonna try and do more walking to get things moving.....

I am one day over my due date and have been having contractions on and off for a week now as well as loosing my mucus plug. On Tuesday I am having a serious talk with my OB who will be pushing induction. greensad.gif( this is my second babe and I have been 3 cm dialated and 70% effaced for two weeks now. I was sure I will have this baby by now. And friends and family are expecting me to go "anytime" putting a lot of pressure on me. I almost feel like not leaving my house or answering my phone at this point. Few days ago I had such a surge of energy- all day I run around, clean my house, car, etc. I was sure that was the day. And NO. Ugh.

You should change your answering machine to say something like "Hi, this is the Cyber-Cat family. Nope, baby hasn't been born yet. Please leave a message. Beep." Then just let it ring and only call back the people you actually want to talk to.

LOL

I'm fortunate that my family hasn't been pestering me. They know I'll call. But people who sort of know me (like DD's teacher, and other parents at the preschool) keep acting surprised to see me still pregnant. I'm just like, um...not even due until the end of the month. Geesh. And these are people who've had babies. In my head I'm just like "uhhh...do you not remember being pregnant? Have you forgotten that babies come when they come?"

Fight the induction! If everything is healthy there is no need. I am 40w 5d and DONE DONE DONE... but I won't induce. I ended up with a c-section last time I did that. (which means I can't induce now anyway) I've been having prodromal labor for a week and it sucks... but it's for a reason. Hopefully it will result in a fast birth, as that is what I have read often happens.

Here is a link about prodromal labor that I found helpful: http://www.supportedbirth.com/articles/prodromal-labor

Also, reading birth stories with prodromal labor has helped me too.

Thank you!!! Where did you read the birth stories?!

I had a senior family member who has never been pregnant post this on my FB the day I was due (and had Ginny but no one knew that yet.)

"Today is the day! We are waiting to hear the good news!"

I LOL'd at it like there was some sort of timer that must have went off and OUT COMES BABY... =P

Maybe we ought to steer clear of baking-related euphemisms for pregnancy...could be contributing to the problem. lol.gif

Bahaha!  I've always kind of hated the term bun in the oven.

So, until today's appt I was feeling like I could wait until baby was ready.  Now that the midwife brought up the word induction, even though it's two weeks away at a minimum, I'm feeling a real sense of urgency about her being born.  Bleh.  And DP came home from work and says he has MORE projects that were delayed and that he will need more than Monday to complete - sometime midweek, I think.  So of course he is hoping baby waits until then.   Ugh.
