Chore Chart Recommendations?

Thread Starter

My 6 year old, soon to be 7, daughter is requesting a chore chart for her birthday as we have issues with her doing her morning/evening routine and her responsibilities.
Does anyone have a really good one they love and works well.
Thanks!!

If you have only one kid, I think it's pretty easy to make a chore chart.

Make a table and fill it in. Show to your DH and then your DD and make sure you all understand and agree as to the duties.

Monday Tues Wed Thurs Fri Sat Sun
morning

eat breakfast

Clear dishes

Wash face

Brush teeth

Make bed

Put fresh water in cat bowl & dog bowl

etc etc.

stuff stuff and so on and so on and so on and so on
afternoon

Rinse out lunch box

Do homework

etc

etc.

stuff stuff
evening

Set table for supper

Take bath

Prepare school bag for tomorrow

stuff stuff

Or, you can have it task based and fill in the names of the people. This is just imaginary.

Mon Tues Wed Thurs Fri Sat Sun
walk dog DD DD DD DD DD DD & Ma DD & Da
Feed cat DD DD DD DD DD DD DD
clear & wash breakfast dishes DD Ma Da DD Ma Da DD
Hang laundry Ma Da Ma Da Ma Da Ma
Take down laundry DD DD DD DD DD DD DD
Fold laundry all all all all all all all
Help prep dinner DD DD DD DD DD DD DD
Cook Dinner Ma Da Ma Da Ma Da Ma
Wash dishes DD Ma Da DD Ma Da DD
Vacuum living room DD Ma Da DD Ma Da DD

It can be fun to make the charts. Just be careful and not be over-ambitious. If it's not working, scrap it and revise.

There was a really cute idea in this months Family Fun magazine where you have a clothespin for each chore and move it from a "to do" spot to a "done" spot. Not describing it too clearly, sorry.
