Names? - Page 7

Caleb is a name I've always liked, but It's too close to other family names. My dh really doesn't like Jonas and that's the name I fell in love with. We still don't have names. I kind of like Marcus, but don't like Mark for a nickname. greensad.gif Girls names we haven't even discussed yet.

We went with family names :) My 2 year old son is Keith Michael which is the first name was my fathers name and middle is my father-in-laws name. I am pregnant with a girl and we are also using family names. She will be Nellie Mae which first name comes from great grandmother names on both sides of the family and middle comes from my grandmothers side. We were going to be at a loss if we had a second boy because we couldn't agree on any names having used up our favorites already. :)

Love the name Nellie Mae!!!!!

Help me to not be irritated...  DH and I are not finding out the sex, nor are we picking any hard and fast names that absolutely won't be changed once the baby gets here.  That being said, we do occasionally throw out a "What do you think of XYZ?"  I like Abigail for a girl, and DH seemed to like it, too.  The other day he asked what I thought about Katherine.  I said as long as it starts with a K.  Turns out, he brought that up because that's his mom's name.  I love my MIL, don't get me wrong (his parents are a lot like my parents which I love), but seriously??  The baby is already getting his family's last name!  The closest thing to a "no compromise" rule we have is that the middle name be Elizabeth (my sister's name).  It doesn't feel like enough of my side of the family coming in, but I'm having a hard time deciding if this is really something to get worked up about, or if it's just me trying to control everything and make it all my way.  I admittedly have a problem with that in most areas of my life...  I've already opened my mind to the possibility of choosing a non-Bible name.  Do I really have to branch out even more????

Feel free to tell me I'm being ridiculous.  Seriously.

I wouldn't want my babe to have the same name as my MIL either Ultra! What about 2 middle names? We did that for DS because DH wanted to use 2 family names and I wanted our kids to have names of their own (first name).

Honestly, I'm really hoping for a boy for the same reason! smile.gif It would only be my MILs middle name for the babies middle name, but I don't want it. So my fingers are crossed for a boy.

Hi please don't name your daughter Senna - it is a laxative....  How about Sienna?

Is Abigail a family name from your side? I don't think you are being ridiculous at all. Our formula has always been that the first name is a non-family name that we both like, middle name comes from my family, last name is dH's. my last name is a double one. If this baby is a boy we will break with this because I am insisting that we use DH's name as the middle name.

Thanks, Starfish.  Abigail isn't in either one of our families that we know of.  I just like the name.  It means "father's delight", and she would definitely be that.

I love the name.  My little niece's name is Abigail.  If it weren't it would be on my list :)

I love it too Ultra! It was one of the few girl names that DH and I actually agreed on smile.gif

I love my mother in law. But I don't know if I would want my child named after her. At least not the first name.

That being said our son will have my husbands great-grandfathers name as a middle, and his father's last name. I am totally okay with that. The first name we both love, and has no connections. If there was a name from my side that we both liked I would love to use it, but the middle name we have is one we both love, and I don't mind that it's from his ggpa.

ultra-we have no names. our other kids weren't named till they were born and we met them and we tried a few names to see what fit them. Same will go for this one. I sort of think I have a name I'd like to try but who knows. I'm of the thought how do you name something before it's here or you meet them? I didn't name our dog before we got her. Granted a pet is different than a child but you still need to meet the child smile.gif

Absolutely, hippy.

I'm having a difficult time with my sister right now, so her name may even be scratched from the middle name entirely....  I'm trying not to make a rash decision.  About any of this.  -breeeeathe-  I'm just gonna go with the flow of life.

Anyone else not have a name picked out? I am 38w5d and I'd like to have a short list of possibles ready, 2-3. We went from not having ANY to now we have too many. Anyone want to vote? orngbiggrin.gif our other kids are Jacob, Lauren, Joshua. Our last name starts with a b and has two syllables.

Phillip James (I originally suggested this one, now I'm a bit eh. Kids and dh like it. Our 3yo is really set on this one, won't even hear of another name. Lol.)
Jonathan. (suggested by DS, dh and I both like it but dh doesn't want another j name)
Luke. (Suggested by dd, we all kind of like it.)
Joel (I have suggested this one with every baby, but we've never used it. Dh likes it ok, but again it's another j)
Isaac (another one I have suggested each time, but we've never used. Dh doesn't hate it, but doesn't like it either)
