~Weekly Chat Thread for April 26-May 3~

Hey Ladies!  It's that last week of April! Can't believe how fast the month of April has flown by. It seems that the first trimester drags by, the second trimester flies, and the third drags again. And spring always seems super busy.

Thanks for playing along with me w/ the Question of the day.  I've so loved getting to know you through them. :)

Question of the Day:  You can only eat one fruit or vegetable tomorrow (unlimited quantities).  What do you choose?

Harmie- I know, almost May! CRAZY. And I'll be in the 3rd trimester next week- what's up with that??

QOTD- I'd eat Colorado peaches that are in season- ahhhhhhh, so sweet and juicy, and so terribly messy to eat!

QOTD:  Greens, whatever I can get my mitts on!  (Probably would be kale, because we have a bunch right now!)  Yum!  But CO peaches sound delicious now too.... winky.gif

Geez, the QOTD is a tough one....but I'm also going to go with kale :)

Does the 3rd trimester start at 26 or 28 weeks??

Hmm, I always thought it was 27 weeks- this site seems to think so, at least. http://www.baby2see.com/pregnancylength.html

Hey Ladies! I don't post much, but I do read and keep up with all the updates, news, moving, weather, recipes, vacations, milestones, setbacks, and victories you all post!!!

I finally went ahead and had the anatomy scan. Baby is healthy and measuring about a week ahead all around, which I know doesn't mean much but I'm hoping it means potentially less of a chance I'll go beyond my EDD. We also found out this baby is a boy! I was totally shocked cause I felt it was a baby girl this whole time. Sickness, cravings, everything felt just like my pregnancy with dd. My daughter was heartbroken but got over it pretty quickly.

Well, I live in the desert and our first 100 degree days are supposed to start today! How on earth am I gonna make it through to August??

QOTD: raspberries!! So cool and refreshing! Yum !

QOTD: raspberries sound good. or really fresh blueberries. really all the berries.

Also, how did it get to be almost May? My daughter is two next week and I am not so ready for that. Emotionally, or sewing her present wise.

QOTD: local Ontario strawberries from our favourite upick farm..... Drooling just thinking about them!! And yeah when we do go, we eat them by the pound for days lol

Leigh my DD just turned 2 a few weeks ago and yeah... I wasn't ready for it especially since she self weaned a few days later. Sometimes I look at this beautiful walking'/talking' child and wonder what happened to my chubby little butterball? *sigh* I miss her baby days. Oh well, time flies when you're having fun!

QDOT : I was going to post rasberries but then someone said peaches and now I can't decide! I think I will have to go with local Mississippi peaches from our farmer's market.

QOTD: Strawberries. They are ripe and in season here again. There is this sweet little Strawberry stand on the way home from the kids school. Organic and picked fresh each morning. They are to die for. I think today I am going to make a strawberry shortcake. smile.gif

QOTD: This is so hard, but there is a lady that sells plums at our farmers market that are a little slice of heaven. But I don't know, I love all the fruits and most of the vegetables. Maybe zucchini? I love in-season peaches too and OH! Tomatoes sliced with salt & pepper. I can't wait- just about another month and I'll be in gazpacho land! I have too many favorites!

Yesterday's QOTD: I can totally see why the mom in The Incredibles is Elastigirl. I need to be Elastigirl all the time, but I can't quite pull my arms out of the sockets. :-/

Yeah, it seems to vary from end of week 26 to end of week 27. I'm going to go with end of week 27 - makes it seem further along ;)

And YES to raspberries, all day, all the time! :)

QOTD: Mmm, all this talk of peaches is making me want to see if there are any local produce stands around here! I think though, artichokes for me. Not really in season, but I have been majorly craving one.

I'm astounded by how the time has flown too. It's warm now and summer clothes are springing up everywhere!

I think I'd pay an arm and a leg for some peaches right now- even though they're not in season yet.

I've always thought of 28 weeks as the start of the 3rd trimester. 3 months for the 1st tri, 4 months for the 2nd tri, and 3 months for the 3rd.

QOTD: Watermelon is what is just coming in season here and I think I did eat 1/2 of a watermelon yesterday.  But the thought of good peaches is making my mouth water.  Mmmm.  My husband is a horticulture grad student, and he's brought home super yummy fresh blueberries and peaches this week.  I love it when I can get delicious fresh produce!!

songbird- it's great to hear your scan went well and yay for a boy!  We've had a few 90+ degree days here and I'm just loving the fact I have friends that have swimming pools.  That is where I plan to be most of the summer.

I am so glad spring is here. The forecast for next week finally looks like spring weather. The midwest can kiss my tush :/

I've been busy the last couple of days. It's big 4H time up until fair now. It's a busy time Of year for us.

And DH is FINALLY coming home tomorrow! Ugh, these kids are driving me nuts. I'm ready to be a parenting partner again, and not just a solo parent.

QOTD: I am still stuck on easy to peel oranges. . I would eat them all day if I had them.

QOTD: I can't seem to eat much of ANYthing without it becoming repulsive. Ugh. I was going to say avocados, but too many make me queasy. All the fruits sound yummy! Then again, fresh zucchini with ranch dressing sounds goooood. I keep craving ranch. WHY?!?! headscratch.gif

I'm also craving chocolate milk. redface.gif And indulging that craving is not such a great idea! bag.gif But I'm wondering if it's the calcium and magnesium that I need. Unfortunately, cal/mag fizz doesn't sound nearly as good. Sigh. Where, oh where, is my self-control? headscratch.gif

songbird, glad everything looked good!!

Banana, hooray for co-parenting! How long has it been? I'd give a lot to not be solo, too. eyesroll.gif

We got up very early today to go do a garage sale at a friend's house. The garage sale didn't go too well (I think I made $12.75!), in part due to location, in part due to massive storms coming through around noon (and still not abated). But the kids had a wonderful time with her horses (my eldest got his first lesson in horsemanship and riding!! love.gif And her method is basically AP for horses thumb.gif) and they all enjoyed running around and exploring. I just wish I hadn't been so exhausted the whole day on only 2.5-3hrs of sleep. redface.gif And now I'm having a bunch of strong BH that are mildly uncomfortable. I need to go drink that big ice water I got from Sonic. And get some sleep. Another 12-ish weeks or more and I'll be able to fully welcome the sensation!

I'm 25wks now (26 Monday). I'm figuring 3rd tri starts at 28, so two more weeks. Essentially 14+14+14=42... even if none of us wants to go that far! wink1.gif

I keep being surprised at how HIGH baby/fundus reaches already. I think it's all right within expectations, but the growth these last few weeks has been dramatic! As it should be, I know, but it has certainly caught me by surprise to have kicks inches from my ribs! (I have a long torso and never do get kicks IN my ribs, thank goodness!)

QOTD: white nectarines just ripe enough to not be hard but still slightly crunchy. Yummmmmm
post #19 of 99
Spring has finally spring here too, hurray! Dug up the vegetable beds yesterday, today I'll plant the cool weather seeds like spinach and carrots. So happy to finally be in the dirt.

QOTD: I have to wait until June here for real strawberries and peaches, so in the meantime, I'll eat a whole pineapple myself, thankyouverymuch.

heather- i take my cal/mag in a small glass of chocolate protein smoothie. Maybe the best of both worlds?

Dh has been gone for almost 4 months :/
