I need to get better about posting here. I try to stop by and catch up on everyone's news once a week or so, but the past couple weeks (well, really the past two months) have been hectic -- we just moved into a new house last weekend, so we're still getting settled. I'm glad we got it out of the way now, rather than later on when I'm too pregnant to do much!
16w 1 day
I had an appt last week, and it was fairly uneventful. Heard the heartbeat, although it was still a little faint/hard to find. Definitely there, though! My next appointment is the gender scan on 5/14. I would actually love to keep this one a surprise, but DH simply must know (and there's definitely no way for him to find out alone -- he'd spill the beans immediately).
Symptoms: I am starting to "feel" more pregnant -- my boobs are huge and I just bought a couple pairs of maternity jeans, although I still fit into a few of my pre-pregnancy dresses and skirts, so I'll try to get a bit more mileage out of them :) Other than that, my allergies have been going crazy lately. I usually don't have many allergy symptoms, but they are going haywire all of a sudden. My eyes are watery and I'm sneezing all over the place.
Nothing specific, really. I've always been a fairly healthy eater and I'm trying to stay that way, but there have been a few instances where I indulged in some major junk food.
Our new house is on a lake, so we've been taking the dogs out for long walks all week. I get tired a little more easily than I used to, but it's nice to get out and get some fresh air and a bit of exercise, and they enjoy chasing the ducks :)
Body changes and other milestones:
I'm not sure if I'm carrying this one differently from last time, but I look a lot smaller than I did at this point last round. I'm also one of FOUR pregnant ladies at work, and we are all due within 6 weeks of each other! They all have these amazingly adorable little pregnant bellies, and I .... just don't yet :( I'm tall, and I started out pretty thin, so I am probably just carrying differently. There is definitely a bump there, but it's small and still fairly easily hidden by loose shirts. I know I'll be kicking myself in a few weeks when I can't bend over to tie my shoes, but I'm tired of just looking like I've gained 10 lbs -- I want to really look pregnant, LOL!
Thoughts: We've been discussing names and sort of looking at nursery furniture. We've also made the decision that we're going to be fairly private about this pregnancy and our decisions with our friends and family -- we're not discussing names with anyone, we're not setting up "wish lists" or baby registries, and we're thinking about not even sharing the sex of the baby with anyone but close family until s/he is born. I learned the hard way last time that when you share and talk about this stuff with people, they always have "opinions," and sometimes (usually!) you just don't need to hear it. I'm sure many people won't understand or agree with our tactics, but who cares what everyone else thinks, right?! :)
