I'm 41w1d today and had to do an NST at the hospital per our Birth Center's requirements. Baby has been moving around fine and all was well by my intuition. I had a false labor start the day before my due date but have not had regular contractions since then.
Our head midwife was on call and checked me for dilation (I had not been checked yet, by choice). Well, she couldn't check for dilation because he was so far up. He has not even dropped yet! She was a little nervous because that is uncommon for 41 weeks. So, we had an ultrasound. Of course, in between when she ordered the u/s and when the nurses actually go the paperwork processed I was pretty worried and got worked up because we started to wonder if he is wrapped in the cord or had a short cord and I would need an emergency c-section.
Turns out he is totally healthy, no weird presentation, there is PLENTY (at the upper end - 25) of amniotic fluid and the cord is free. No idea why he has not dropped yet.
I started taking black cohosh today per the midwife's recommendation and we will see where this leads. I don't want to be induced...I'm not sure how long they will let me go, though. They also measured his weight (which is oh-so-accurate - haha) and they said 9#3oz. So then they tried the this is a bigger baby scare tactic (my ds was 7#10oz). Ugh. I told them I have no concerns about opening enough for him.
Long story short, I am looking for other suggestions to encourage him to drop. The midwife suggested pelvic tilts (been doing 80 2x/day all along) and bouncing on my exercise ball. Anyone else have suggestions?
