I ask wondering if you get to decorate the green/brown space in the yard.

Thank you, vydalea. You have been so supportive this whole time!

The school is bloody awful, probably. DS is going to be so, so overwhelmed, and honestly, I wonder if I'm doing him a great disservice greensad.gif His current school is a charter, heavily environmentally focused, 409 kids in the whole school K-8, they call it the hippie school, it's overwhelmingly white, while trying to pay lip service to integration...it's sometimes overly wussy. They all know each other, though. Even the teachers are first name basis with the kids.

The new school is 1000 kids just in 7th and 8th, 40% each Hispanic and white and 30% Black in a heavy city atmosphere, and I so so so hate to go there about racial issues, but I can't help it, that's how cities tend to be. It's NOT going to be crunchy at all. DS may find himself heavily bullied and made fun of and maybe even beaten up. Gawd, I hope not. But he's pretty and he has bra-strap length beautiful blonde hair and he's skinny and small for his age. He's gorgeous. He can be an utter jerk and run his mouth WAY, way too much, and one of these days it's going to get his arse in a whole heap of trouble with the wrong people. OTOH, he's a sweetheart and overly kind and afraid of everything. Oh, gods. He has to change classes every class. He's got no recess except 1 quarter out of the year.

I did call the school the other day to find out how to enroll him, and if there's a bus and when it comes, and they told me to bring his current IEP and 504 and that he may not even have to change classes, or too many, if he can't handle it. Which is good, cause he probably can't. She sounded really happy to work with me *cross fingers*

I'm excited to move and I'm really glad ds gets 3 months of summer this year (ours starts/ends a month before theirs, so he ends June 4 and they start after Labor Day, where here he'd be going back 8/15 or so) so that we can find our way, find our tribe, start going to church and me to AA and us to Pagany things and to the parks and all, and take walks and find our way around.

There is a very small green/brown space in the back of the building. The building has 3 or 4 floors with 2 apts on each floor. I don't think anyone else uses that space...might be ours! There is a stone picnic table and I think a grill, under this huh-YOOGE pine tree. I'm claiming.

If it's not a good fit, you can request and out-of-district placement.  I can chat with you about the whole process.  Once you get MAHealth, you'll be able to get your ds a full evaluation by a neuropsych at Children's Hospital Boston (or Waltham).  A local, recent neuropsych eval can make the difference when it comes to your son getting the education that he needs.

Thanks,DOK...he doesn't need a new eval; he's had one for years and it hasn't changed-- I just need to get him a doctor and a therapist (maybe-- if he doesn't need one to have a doc prescribe meds, then that's even better) and the school needs his existing IEP/504. The lady on the phone, when I called the school, was super nice and hopefully they'll work with me.
I can't wait to have health insurance for ME-- you sure I get it just because I'm a mom with a minor child? That would be so cool. I haven't had insurance since 1999.

Neuropsychologists recommend a full evaluation to be done every 2 to 3 yrs.

You can get MAHealth for you if fall in their income guidelines.  Even if you are a little over their limit, you can buy into Neighborhood Health (which supposedly isn't a lot of money.)

Feeling so alive and tired in one. Coming off my final weekend for the 2 year women's mystery school apprenticeship and feeling so pregnant! LOL this week was to be the annual gathering with my pagan tribe but because I am uber pregnant I didn't want to invest $1000 to have us all go for a week and then have to leave because I am in labor... (It isn't very far from my house but it is a container so coming and going isn't really an option... so also I was discouraged at the idea of camping or sleeping on crummy bunk beds this late in the stage... LOL)

The weekend was so amazing and a beautiful finish to 2 years of self growth, sacred work, ritual, and beyond. There were a few times I thought I would leave because I thought labor was starting... I am so warming up! LOL And I think I am just feeling so excited now to meet this little gemini shapeshifter friend of mine!

Revolting I am adding more music to my playlist and added this  (I did women in power and it was amazing, I love this CD too) and this  (well I had this on my list for several months now) to my list.

Maia, from my understanding in Mass the more current your eval is the easier it is in having flexibility negotiating needs for schools.

Oh, I am WAY under the guidelines...the limit is $46K or so, isn't it? I'm like half of that. Maybe. In a good year.

I remember being So Pregnant. Enjoy it, mama; it'll be over soon! Hey-- what camping week? A Pagan camping week? In MA? Oh, I have so been looking for one for when we get there! Is it only your coven/group/whatever? Or is it public? Where in MA do you live compared to Worcester County?

DS hasn't had an eval in awhile, I don't think. But he has his doctor appts on a regular basis and he reviews ds's conditions and meds and all, every 6 weeks. Plus, I'm getting ds's IEP and 504 from all his school years, and his school records and all.

The week is with Earth Spirit Community in the corner of Mass next to NY and CT... I live about 2-2.5hrs from Worcester- grew up out there though. There are a few Red Tents out there- Fitchburg, Grafton, Worcester....

Then you will definitely get MAHealth even for yourself.  smile.gif

Sadly, all that may not be enough in MA.  I work with families of special needs kids in MA and all the schools here are pretty much the same.  They won't give you squat if your child doesn't have a recent, full Neuropsych evaluation.  When does your IEP end?  When it ends, your MA school can stop all services if they want.  That's why it's super important to get that new evaluation here.

I'm more than happy to work with you to help get all that is needed.  Just say the word.  loveeyes.gif

Chiming in again. I've been MIA since we moved back to Seattle. We've been staying in a extended stay hotel since April 11 and will be here till June 7 but we finally found a house and we signed the papers just this previous Sunday! I'm so ready to get out of here! We have two dogs, a cat, and a toddler in a two bedroom hotel.
The house is small but has amazing built in storage! Two stories and a great back yard! The couple renting it to us have a 2 year old so there's already baby proofing on the cabinets in the kitchen.

I'm not going to make the same mistake of our last rental and not clearing out the energy ahead of time. I need recs for clearing out energy and starting fresh in a new to us old house. Thanks!

well i didnt do a very good job of keeping up. page 3 already? lol.

my family is doing fine. the youngest will start walking soon. he is our last. i got my tubes tied. i am too disabled to keep having more. although i would have liked to.

tbh, i havent had much time for other stuff. i dont even fb much lately. the only time i get is when i am nursing lo.

i just found out recently, that one of my friends (of 17 years) has terminal lung cancer. he had been going to chemo etc. but a couple of days ago they told him he wouldnt get any more chemo. that it was progressing too fast and it wasnt doing any good. they told him to call hospice. he doesnt have many friends left. he kinda scared them all off. he has issues. he mostly wants company at night bc that is when he feels alone the most. i cant bc i have the little. it is killing me. i dont know what to do. his house isnt really clean enough for me to just let my 10 mo old play there. i would have to hold him the whole time.

Getting back into the swing of checking in here again - this is the only board I check in for here at MDC since my littles are not so little anymore.

I got a reminder to touch base while basking in the amazingly bright super moon last night.  WOW

I'll keep quietly following along, but sending out love to each of you :)

LM - I'm sorry to hear about your friend and I hope he's able to find peace with this stage of his life.

How are you disabled? (sorry if I had read it at some point. I can't remember much these days (except what's absolutely necessary for me and my son.)

It might be too late but I use bells - big loud clanging bells - to clear out energy.  That works for me but everyone is different.

THREE WEEEEEEKS!!?!??????

Tomorrow we take our first BIG road trip with the kid from Upstate NY to Chicago.  12 hours in 2 days- totally do-able.  Send us good energy, please.  If this doesn't go well I'm afraid my DH isn't goign to be down to road trip until she's out of the house!!

Or, if you don't have bells or incense or anything...just plain simple yelling will work. I mean...I'm a practical Witch...if you have a finger and a will, you can do magick, is my saying. Use your voice. The kids will LOVE it. Mom said we could yell? All-RIGHT! lol.gif

Not even 3 weeks, now. Closing is in like 16 days. The appraisal has been ordered and it's the last piece in the puzzle. Hopefully (CROSS FINGERS! light candles! Whatever!) things will go smoothly!

It turns out that the woman buying my house is like 27yo (a baby! sheesh) and a locally known musician. Too bad I can't feel all smug and cool about this-- she's been such a PITA. Oh well. I have actually been able to forgive and send out blessings. Which is better karma, anyway, right?

How old is your kid again? Road trips are cake; if my feisty kid can do it, so can yours-- but I *would* invest in a DVD player for the car...I have absolutely no compunction against using the electronic babysitter on long car trips. Or any other time, anymore, since my kid has gotten older and feistier. Sigh.

Baby came. I had a lovely altar up in my birthing room. Lots of singing and praying. Some dancing. One heck of a rite of passage.

Amlikam - Congrats! I've had you in my thoughts. If you ever post a birth story, please link. How is your big kid handling the transition? How are you doing?
Vy - What brings you to Chicago?

Congrats Amlikam!! Yay for new babies!

I'm going to get some bells because DD would love to help! Hehe, she's only 15 months. I did great with a ritual sweeping when we moved out of our house in San Diego, andI love candle work so I might do all three. Thanks! We're so ready to get out of this hotel!

I am bravely attempting to tackle the multi-quote - apologies if this is one huge tl:dr.  Thank you for the welcome back!  I have missed each of you :)

hey mama!!  I'm hanging in there, but my life has been swallowed up with volunteering at my oldest's school and battling/creatively thinking for funding sources.  Also running their PTA which is crazy making to say the least, but making use of all my customer service, professionalism & general management skills.

Have fun in Chicago & I'll be waving to you from MKE!!

I agree with Maia on this!  We had to quickly fly for DH's dad's funeral in Seattle last fall, and I'm glad we had some of the electronic gadets along with as we were just wiped out emotionally for the kids on the flight.  They got everything - candy, sodas, video games to allow us to turn their lives upside down for almost a month (death, plus travel, and then return)
