Transformative in each birth process I have been through and for many women around the globe. Here is more on her : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ina_May_Gaskin
I just bought it myself and wait to watch it tonight with DH!
DH and I drove out to our birth center last night to watch it with a group of folks, and it was awesome! I was a little skeptical at first because while I realize how instrumental she has been in resurrecting midwifery in this country, many people seem to idolize her and put her up on a pedestal (my own personal thoughts here, not trying to be provocative). However, she and the film were very down-to-earth, and I loved it. She's got such an awesome sense of humor! I knew almost nothing about her before last night. I'm totally grateful for what she she and her friends did because it has made it possible for me now 40 years later to have the birth that I want.
