And speaking of fees, I forked over $6 for the shirt that doesn't fit. It's that fine balance between what is a bit of waste (a shirt she won't wear after this) and not wanting her to feel left out. My mom was one who didn't like to pay for those little extras, so instead of the yellow field day shirt I would have been sent to school in some other yellow shirt and always felt really awkward. I was already social outcast so having to be the one who didn't get to wear the shirt everyone else had didn't help matters, yk?
I'm not sure R cares so much, but this morning she was telling me about a girl at school who keeps telling her everything she likes is for babies, and it's a situation not helped by the fact that the girl in question is nearly as tall as me. Our district is good about the bullying stuff, but that's not to say that it's paradise. So R and I talked, and while we were at field day this morning, I heard a couple of parents behind me talking about the same girl. Apparently they've met with the principal more than once about it. As for the girl in question...I kinda think she's hit early puberty. Apparently the meanness is cyclical.
Sort of RR: apparently there isn't any designated parking at the marathon this weekend. :? I was briefly considering parking on campus and taking one of the B-Cycle bikes to the race start, but then I realized I'd be walking around on campus at something like 4:45 in the morning, in the dark. Campus is not in a great part of town, and while I'm rarely worried, that might be a deal-breaker. Now I'm praying they'll give us good tips for parking at the expo tomorrow. The last thing I heard was "park by 4:45 am" (for a 6 am race) and I just keep thinking that's gonna hurt.
