I'm out. Good luck to all the other mamas for a safe and peaceful pregnancy.
Let's have some introductions! - Page 5
Firstly I am sad to read of some losses in this group, my thoughts are with you very brave women for sharing this time x
This is my first pregnancy and first forum post, reaching out across the globe other others due in Jan 2014; it feels exciting and very wonderful!
I'm from England but living in Sydney Australia with my partner for the next few years; wedding was planned for next June back home, so we are keeping the date as planned, but now will be plus an extra special guest!
I made my dress already but I might not be able to wear it depending on my boobs!.... Need a Plan b!
I'm into arts and crafts and Steiner education, and found this site via the book "you are your child's fist teacher" which is really helping.
Lots of love x Imogen O
Oh I love Australia!!! I studied abroad in Melbourne for about 4 weeks, and of that, spent a weekend in Sydney. Then spent a week in Western Australia, too, up in the gorges by Fitzroy, and Broome. I hope you're enjoying living there, Imogen! And Philothea, I hope you get the chance to go!!
Imogen - you made your own wedding dress?! That is SO COOL!!
I'm Leighanne, 38yo, married for going on 16 years to my college sweetheart. We live in Michigan. We have 3 girls and 3 boys already so this is our tie-breaker baby. A pretty big surprise. We loosely NFP and were TTA since I have HBP and am also the working stiff in our relationship. Our kids are also in private Catholic schools and we will have our first high schooler next year so we were trying to be financially responsible and I think we both also felt kinda 'done' so thus the surprised feeling though we are Catholic and always have the door open ...obviously!!
I work full time + as an instructor and advisor at the University we both attended and graduated from. My husband has a stay-at-home IT business...he works about 5-10 hours/week while parenting our two youngest who are still at home.
So far I feel kind of horrible...worse than my other 6 pregnancies I'd say. Though at 10 weeks + it's starting to subside a little. What was all-day sickness since 7 weeks has seemed to morph into evening sickness. I am also constipated and SUPER gassy which are new first trimester feelings for me. Usually I just get the nausea and throwing up bit. UGH, the trifecta of digestive issues is NOT FUN.
We are a BFing, cosleeping family that have cloth diapered in the past but since my DH is the SAHD we go with his preference which is disposables. We don't vax or circ. We have had one planned homebirth. So I guess we're semi-crunchy.
Looking forward to sharing gestation together. Cheers!
I had Stacia Proefrock and Kate actually came post-partum to help her since I had some hemorrhaging issues. They thought they were going to have to do an IV, but they ended up just feeding me lots of liver and green goodness...I think Kate might have cooked the liver in my kitchen? It was 7 years ago so my memory is fuzzy.
Hello Mamas! My name is Tiffany, I am 26 and live in Ohio. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Jason for 7 yrs (together for 11 yrs). I'm a SAHM to a sweet daughter named Gloria who is almost 2 1/2 years. This is our fourth pregnancy, we lost two babies last year, so my heart goes out to all the Mama's that have lost ... I had my daughter in the hospital with meds and will never do it again (Lord willing!) I am on progesterone and lots of folic acid with this one because of the 2 miscarriages. Doctors believe I have low hormone levels. So I am seeing an OB through 12 weeks and then switching to my midwife and hopefully having a home water birth. Super excited for that!!! I meet with my Midwife on Tuesday and can't wait. I am nervous with this one but yet have a good feeling too! I have had really strong symptoms this time and had a great US at 6 1/2 weeks (heartbeat 115!!) I love being a mom and really hope I get to hold this sweet little blessing!
Hi! I just joined Mothering specifically so I could join this due date club. I am due on January 17th! My fiance is so very excited. This is his first baby. Not my first though. I had wanted a homebirth again with this one but because of my age I might not be able to. I'm almost 40 so my risks of chromosomal abnormalities go up. My fiance is only 24 though so his genes actually lower the risk. I figure we should even out. LOL
Hi Everyone, I'm Erin,33, and this is my 4th, I'm due January 23. My oldest son is 5, my daughter just turned 4, and my baby boy is nearly 14 months. I'm planning my second homebirth, my first was born in a big hospital with an OB and and epi, my second in a naturally in a small hospital with a midwife, and my 3rd at home. This was the first baby we have actively tried for for multiple months, DS1 happened the first month, DD came along with NTNP, and DS2 was a gigantic despite birthcontrol baby (I call him my 4%er). We had been trying since Christmas for this one, but DS2 was still nursing half the night so I think that might have slowed things down a bit. I've nursed through the last two pregnancies and then tandem nursed (although the last time was only for six weeks or so), and plan to again this time. We CD for the most part, but we don't co sleep. DH runs a small grocery and specialty foods store, and I manage our small farm with the help of two apprentices, where we grow food for our store. We have chickens, turkeys, pigs, and about half an acre in intensive vegetables, herbs and flowers. I looks forward to getting to know everyone!
Wow! So many beautiful babies on the way! My name is Danara and I'm expecting my second on January 27th, 2014. I had an amazing son in 2002 who was born with a chromosomal disorder and who died a couple of years ago. He never walked or talked----but was such an angel. I am 41 and remarried and thrilled to conceive again. I'm still in a bit of shock-----and really showing, already! I have my first O.B. appointment on Monday and may later switch to my previous midwife, depending on how things go. I would love to have a home birth. Oh---and my husband had a zero sperm count so we conceived with at home insemination with his brother' as a donor. Surpise----it worked! Looking forward to sharing the journey with all of you.
Hi! As a 30-year-old new mom-to-be, I am happy to have found this great wealth of experience!
My husband, 39, and I have been married for 2 years this week and currently live in Cairo, Egypt with our two kitties. We're in the middle of our tour here and were fairly surprised to find out that we conceived so quickly. So far we're just trying to get our minds around the whole thing: Medivac away from Cairo (the U.S. government, for which my husband works, highly discourages its employees giving birth in Egypt) six weeks ahead of due date and staying with one of my parents back in Chicagoland for the birth and first two months of baby's life. It's a lot to take in... especially since I'll have to meet whoever is going to deliver baby just six weeks before due date!
So this experience will very much be an exercise in living in the moment and having faith that it'll all work out.
But would I trade our nutty vagabond lifestyle for anything? No... and I can't wait to be one of those adorable families I see traveling with teeny luggage in tow :)
Uggh----I'm out, too! Nine week ultrasound and no heartbeat. Just a quiet little bean. Good luck to all the rest of you for healthy January babies. My husband is staying home from work to make me tea and take care of me. Hope I miscarry naturally----otherwise a D and C. It's a rough business.........
mamabell, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad your husband can be there with you.
AFM, this is my second LO. I stay at home part-time with DS who is a day shy of 18 months. I work out of the home 2-3 days per week and at home whenever I can find the time (ha!). It's a good balance for me though. I hope I can stay with my employer after this one arrives. I'm a per diem employee so I have no legal protection, just have to rely on their good graces.
We're outdoorsy, nature geeks at our house. I'm a fan of Western medicine and am planning an OB-attended birth at the hospital, probably with an epidural. That's the way the last one went and it was pretty fabulous. But other than medical choices, I'm pretty similar to other moms here.
