I, too, would love to see this group become more active. There is so much to be said for the mountain/rural family life.  :)  I live in Washington State.

We're going to feature the group this week to make the community more aware of it and see if that gets things rolling. And by all means - invite those you know who would be interested in joining.

Would anyone be interested in serving as a group leader? Maybe having someone who can initiate some discussion would help stir up some activity. thumb.gif

Well, I'll do my bit--

I live in Bellingham, WA which is between the mountains and the ocean. <3 <3 <3

My family (husband and three young adult guys) loves to hike, swim in mountain lakes, and camp. A couple of my sons are obsessed with fishing.

We lived for four years in the Rocky Mountains in Montana. Lots of bears, mountain sheep and grasshoppers!

Although it can be inconvenient in some ways, I have enjoyed the times in my life when I lived out in the hills. Growing up surrounded by nature gives a kid a different kind of perspective in life.

I'm interested in hearing other people's stories. I may be able to help with ideas for rural parenting connections and educational resources.

I live in the Laurel Highlands in PA. Moved here last Fall, I always said I wanted to get up higher where the summers were milder, DH got a promotion to here so here we are. I love the weather and the views, love being in the country/small town where we can walk right into the woods and look out on miles of forested hills, and there's fewer neighbors to it's easier to get to know the ones there are. Only downside is my yard is pretty steep.

I have only been living in the Mts. for the past 3 yrs. I am from the south and a beach area. I have grown to love the spring, summer and fall here. It would be hard for me to deal with the bugs and humidity full time now lol. I dont like all the snow we get here in Northern Utah though ;)

I'm on the south end of Camano Island, WA.  Working on building a small sustainable micro farm with my kids and horses in tow.  Kind of hard to live away from the water and the mountains once you're in it :)
