I love baby wearing as well!!! I never even used a stroller for either of my children. I can't wait to pull out my stash for this little one!
From my experience its hard to really tell anyone what kind of carrier they are going to like best, it is a really personal choice. I think a lot depends upon body shape, baby size, baby age and both mom and baby personality. It's really complicated.
For example I just don't fit in an ergo. They are way way too big for me no matter how I adjust it. The shoulder straps are too big and cannot be adjusted down to my size. So in my opinion I just don't like the ergo.
Also I'm not a fan of ring slings. I find that no matter how long I spend adjusting it I just can't get them comfortable. I even own a beautiful one so I've invested the time. I'm going to try again with this babe just in case.
But I am a huge huge pouch fan!!! I love how simple and quick I can get one on reliably and how amazingly small they fold up so that you can always keep one hiding in your diaper bag for those just in case moments even until your babe is 2-3 years old.
I also love stretchy wraps for the newborn period. So soft, secure and quick to get baby in and out. I would just put the wrap on and leave it on like a shirt all day. When the baby needed to be carried I would just pop them in and have 2 hands free
Then as baby grows I've moved to a Mei tai. Basically to me I see them as the best of an ergo( soft structured carrier) and a wrap. You get the same great support and front or back carry like the ergo without the clips and extra stuff that comes with the ergo making it bulky. Also it's easier to put on compared to a wrap since you only have a few options of tie styles and you have a square of fabric to center you. Also I love how small they fold up so you can also fit it in your diaper bag.
Since This is such a personal topic I would recommend going to the website called thebabywearer.com and check out the forums. Also the for sale or trade there is amazing!!!! Almost everything I own I bought from there used.
