My husband, two sons and I moved to Lancaster recently. Can anyone suggest a good chiropractor for the family, as well as a doctor for the family. We are very natural minded, and we don't vaccinate, so it would need to be a doctor who is OK with that. Would be great to find one that actually accepts insurance too!!! I know a lot of naturopaths and homeopaths do not accept insurance, but I would be happy with a family practice doc too.

Also, any like-minded mommies - please feel free to reach out for a new friend :)

Thank you!!!

Sarah

I can't tell how old your children are, but if you're still nursing, attending a LLL meeting will likely help you connect w/ other moms & get info on doctors to avoid or go to also. www.lllofeasternpa.org They are also having a parenting & breastfeeding conference in October if you like that kind of thing. Even if you aren't nursing, you might ask if they have any playgroups to take part in.

Don't know if there's a HOlistic MOms Network group out there, but they're another option. Downside to them is you have to pay to be a member & attend meetings/events regularly.

My SIL lives in that area but she's as mainstream as a person can get.

Best wishes,

Sus

Hi!

I'm here in Lancaster County too! I see Dr. Weinhold in Mount Joy for our chiropractor. He is wonderful. Reasonably priced too. His office right next to the Mount Joy Library which is a great small library so you can always take the kids before or after.

We go to Manor Family Health in Millersville for our family doctor. We selective/delay vac and they have been fine with it so far. I just wave around the CDC Delayed Vac schedule and the doctors usually don't push me.

There is a new naturopath sign that I noticed on Lititz Pike/501 across from the Giant shopping center, whose name I can't remember at the moment. No recommendation on that either way but worth the research. There is a well regarding acupunturist in the Western Corners shopping center at the intersection of Columbia Avenue and Centerville Road. That might be a good resource too.

I like new friends too! PM me!

Hi Sarah,

Welcome to Lancaster! I can't say enough good things about Dr. Stephen Wehibe at Abbeyville Family Medicine. Excellent bedside manner, respectful, actually has children AND likes them... the best I've found here (and it's our third practice and we are no vax).

Lots of like-minded people in the area, I'd say, but you have to work to find us.

I second the idea about LLL (even if you are past the nursing days). All the leaders in the county are great and will get you plugged into "the network".

Feel free to PM me with more questions.

Have you been to market yet?

Again, welcome!

Thanks very much!! Found a great family practice 10 minutes from my house. The doctor is mainstream but he also works with holistic methods and didn't give me any slack at all about our non-vax status. What a relief!!! And he accepts my insurance :) Next is the chiro. Thank you AndtheStars for that recommendation.

Great recommendations to contact LLL...yes, we are still BFing...hopefully for another year!!

Solstices, sorry to just get this now. Where are you located in Lancaster county? I live in Mount Joy, on the western side but we have a great group of crunchy moms and we have weekly "hikes" during the summer. PM me if you are interested!
