who's doing this test at 12 weeks?
i didn't do it with dd but after 3 losses this year i'm worried about every scenario now.
i don't know if is should schedule it or not.
Yeah, I do know two people who had false positives...it was very stressful, especially for one of them, because her family was pressuring her to abort the baby before they even got the amnio results, which showed that everything was perfect.
For me, I know if something was wrong, my husband would be so upset not to have known earlier. I don't know how I'd feel if I got bad results.
My mom had a false positive scan with my younger brother. He'll be graduating from his Ivy League school in a few weeks, for what it's worth, lol.
With that in my background, I don't think I'd believe the scan regardless of what it told me, so I'll just skip it. No risk factors or anything.
I'm over 35 so I get to do them. I choose to because I have 2 other children. I won't abort unless it shows something really terrible that will be painful for the baby, even then, I might have to really consider. But for me I would rather know.
Oh I'm in the US, it's a blood test and an ultrasound, then amnio if needed, but there is also a new blood test to replace the amnio. I wouldn't do an amnio.
IDK if I am going to do it. I would like peace of mind NOW but I am more inclined to seek out the very new blood test where they just find the fetal DNA in the mother's blood (only in the big cities right now) rather than using an in the middle approximate test that still sometimes leads to Amnio/CVS. Also, I have a dark heart but I do NOT on a cerebral level believe in terminating pregnancies for genetic issues, so I would rather not tempt myself & get into a situation that I would mourn/regret later.
