We're in Chicago, After baby I was a brand new person (I didn't trust a soul when it came to baby)...not sure how normal this is but in the past I had always been easy going and extremely nice and trusting of others. After she was born I was even skeptical of telling others her name.....just called her baby-girl.
I contacted a Nanny service when my daughter was 1 month old while attempting to clear my three month maternity leave To-Do-List. I had a nice long talk with this woman at the agency (40 minutes for sure). She assured me that she was the exact same way with her first born, to the point of calling the administrator of the hospital where her child was born to say that the hospital staff was taking waaay too much time with her child and she wanted her in her room all night, not to be removed.
So here we are 4 weeks until D-Day and I'm crazy looking for the proper, trusting, loving nanny on every website that I can find. I was so unhappy with my findings. Finally one evening under two weeks to go back to work, while weeping my husband asked, why not contact the service that eased your mind a couple of months ago?
I only remembered the name Gold Coast (we're in the Lakeview area)....I spoke with two agencies with gold coast in the name and they both insisted that I spoke with them (lol!!!) I knew that wasn't correct. The women that I spoke with at those agencies were not personable, down-to-earth, nor were they funny. They seemed to reading from an unrehearsed script, I did found Gold Coast Nanny and when I heard her voice (Gigi), I knew I found her. As soon as I heard her voice, I asked, 'Do you have a 2 year old and three much older children?' She quickly replied, 'Yes and who do I have the pleasure of speaking with?'
ALL I CAN SAY IS: If you are a mom and you live in or near Chicago (even in Michigan or Indiana) this lady is the best. She once again, eased my mind and my aching heart. She sent me three nannies who were called Career Nannies and promised me that I would choose from the three....however if by chance I didn't choose any, she would gladly send three others.
Long story short: I loved all three nannies and was allowed to do trial days with all of them. Impossible to decide, I chose the third nanny she sent. AND WHAT A BLESSING SHE HAS BEEN!!!! I now understand what a Career Nanny is all about. Our Career Nanny (Doris) is wonderful. I was a SAHM for an extra two weeks, worked only half days for two more weeks and our nanny was professional in every way and extremely helpful, what charm! My transition back to a full-time schedule, five days a week turned out to be awesome.
Thank you Gold Coast Nanny of Chicago. I really needed that push and Gigi V. the owner is a mother of 4, a wife, an author and business owner. She really is a professional in her field. Good Luck Mom's, especially if you were as paranoid as I was about my little Bunny. Thanks for taking the time to listen, just felt like sharing.
