Preparing for Baby To-Do Lists - Page 7
I'm now 36 weeks and ready to admit this baby is coming fairly soon.
We are picking up a changing table from a friend this weekend. DD#1 has her own room and DD#2 sleeps in a small nursery off our bedroom. After the first few months we'll keep DD#3's clothes and diapers in the nursery and she'll continue to sleep with us. However, I remember how much newborns poop constantly and we can't be constantly going in and out of DD#2's room all day and night. Hence, a separate changing table in our room until this little one can hold her poop through the night. We will also set up the crib in our room for naps and in case thus baby would like to sleep through the night. Ha!
I also need to finish packing my hospital bag, finish my birth plan (waiting for my GBS status), wash baby clothes, and set up diapering station. Oh, and bring up the co-sleeper.
Other than that, this is baby #3 so bring it on!
I'm almost done with list! All I need to do is set up the crib and co sleeper, finish my birth plan, and pack my bag.
Anyone else having trouble packing? The problem is I need the stuff that will go in the bag. I don't have enough maternity clothes left to pack and wear!
I packed my yoga pants that I don't want to wear anymore because they're getting too stretched out and a few of my 3/4 length shirts that I'm not wearing because they're too hot (but in the hospital, they'll be fine). I packed my two least favorite nursing bras. LOL - I figure I won't mind so much in the hospital....
Yay me! I am actually getting some of this stuff done! DH and I are so bad about paperworky things and put off going to the DMV until this morning, which is crazy because our registration expires tomorrow! Thankfully that is done now though, and we both have new licenses (moved to a new state). Whew, it's crazy how much stress is gone now that is done.
It looks like I have pretty basic stuff left.
Bdoody- I'm with you on packing, I don't have enough clothes to both pack and wear. Actually, I'm a little worried that I may just go into labor and be looking for clothes to pack, only to find that they're dirty! Eep!
Wash and hang baby clothes- done!
Wash cloth diapers and covers- done!
Order snappis- done!
Order some new nursing bras- done!
Figure out a diaper bag- done!
Make more freezer meals
Buy frozen meals at Costco and Trader Joe's- done!
Get baby swing set up
Sew mama cloth
Sew baby blanket
Sew blanket for DS
Buy car seat- done!
Install car seat
Buy new underwear
Purge some of DS's toys
Deep clean the house
New driver's license- done!
I cooked them up and will microwave them like calzones. I'm sure you could just as easily freeze them pre-cooked, but that would involve planning ahead to defrost them, and I'm more of an "I want it now!" kind of girl.
I remember DH finishing packing our bag before we left for the hospital last time. I had a list and I would yell out instructions between contractions. Everything made it and we were only there for two dates anyway. Plus, since we have 2 kids, I figure DH will be running home at some point.
Yes, but I have to say, if you care about exactly what they pack, give them REALLY SPECIFIC directions. Men can be clueless and if you ask for shirts, they often bring you a tiny dressy blouse or something instead of a really practical maternity t-shirt. :p I have a very short list for DH to pack while in labor... Or me... Or my mom if she's here... Either way, short list in labor is the way to go I think. ;)

Yeah, I think I was yelling things like "video camera" and "toothbrush". I wouldn't yell "shirt". Who knows what I would get.
Had to come back here, to find my list. I guess I didn't save it anywhere else so i could keep it updated. DH has started on some freezer meals this week. He does all of our shopping and meal prep, even when i am not pregnant. So thankful for that. He made some chicken stew, stocked up on salmon and sausages that were on sale, and is making some grain-free eggplant lasagna and paleo pancakes this week to eat and freeze. We don't have an extra freezer, so that will probably be it to get us started.
Week 27: Put together questions for MW to clarify questions about birth center, delivery.
Week 28: GD Test and MW appt; start drafting birth plan based on response to questions above
Week 29: Find storage box with bottles and warmer; call insurance co. re: breast pump coverage and pick up pump
Week 30: Meet with Doula, go over/revise birth plan
Week 31: Finish cleaning out dresser in my room, get rid of one of three to make room for bassinet
Week 32: Trip to IKea for organizers for DS closet to move his clothes in and baby clothes into changer- Don't think this is happening, probably going to look for a larger used dresser to combine clothes and use a changer. For now, baby clothes are in our room.
Week 33: Find/buy rumbleseat for stroller Yay Finally found one used for half the retail price!
Week 34: Meet with Doula 2nd appointment; call lactation consultantant about appt pre-delivery
Week 35: Shop for travel toiletries for hospital bag
Week 36: Pack hospital bag, personal sheets, blanket and pillow; order DS baby gift
Week 37: Buy NB diapers; find used swing, install car seat bases in cars; order formula to have on hand
Week 38: Set up bassinet; wash and put away baby clothes; sterilize bottles; get a haircut and OMG, almost forgot! Host DS's 3rd Birthday party!
Week 39: Pedicure (love this :) Maybe finally figure out a name for this baby? Have to add buy snacks for delivery, DH made homemade jerky and we have some coconut pops but that's it. Have a feeling we'll be swinging by the store on the way to the birth center. That will be interesting.
Order new 4 oz bottles and BM storage bags
Week 40: Relax and wait!?! Go to the beach, pool etc.
Post Delivery: Have MW fax prescription to Med Supply Co. for breast pump; Have MW fax paperwork to ST Disability
Sad, I looked back and 2 weeks ago, I basically had the same amount left to do that I have now. LOL
So, my updated todos:
Deep clean the house (this could easily go on right up to delivery)
Finish tagging boy clothes for consignment
Sewing repairs/making blankets (this is SO easy I don't know why I haven't finished it)
Put a few things in the car in case I need them during labor (I think I'm putting this off because once mom comes I KNOW what car we're taking -otherwise, I have to do double duty and put stuff in both vehicles).
GISDiva: No time and limited willpower to not eat frozen treats beforehand, so we buy these http://www.amazon.com/Smooze-Natural-Fruit-Coconut-Mango/dp/B002LDA2TS . THey're shelf stable so we can keep some on hand and throw in the freezer when we want.
Darn, I just checked my list and I still have so much left to do! I've been working on packing the overnight bag but it's kind of killing me to think about everything 4 people will need for a day or 2.
DS is also undoing my progress on everything around the house. It's one of those days when I just want to take a nap, but I can't stand thinking about what DS would get up to if I even curled up for 5 minutes. sigh.
Maybe some of my list will get done when DH gets home and plays with DS.
Pretty proud of myself today - straightened and vacuumed whole house (except the Master - somehow I straightened it and then forgot to vacuum), swept, and caught up on most of my sewing todos... :D Tomorrow - more sewing, vacuum Master, clean guest toilet (the rest are clean), get stuff together to go into the car, maybe do some consignment tagging...
