What do you think about children reading while sitting on the toilet (i.e. toilet training, waiting to pee or poop)? I made books with my mother-in-law for this purpose for my toddlers, about the steps of going to the toilet, using it, washing hands etc. and I bought the "Potty Caddy" for Christmas for my 2-year-old DD and 3-year-old DS which includes little booklets designed for toddlers to look at while sitting on the toilet, but I'm having second thoughts for two reasons:
1) When they leave books on the floor, if the toilet overflows they will get ruined
2) They seem to relax when they're using the books or booklets, and stop trying to pee or poop. It's good that they're not stressed or anxious, but it's hard to use your muscles when you're relaxed, especially if you're still learning how to use those muscles.
Am I thinking about this too much? Both of my toddlers are making progress with toilet training and I don't want to do anything to slow them down.
Thanks for your advice! :)
