Anyone having food cravings or aversions yet?

Food aversions...I hate everything!  Honestly, nothing appeals to me, but at the same time I'm constantly starving!  It's really unfair!   Anyone else going through this?

I'm just so nauseous I don't want to eat anything at all but I force myself too. I randomly get cravings for really unhealthy things, but if I actually WANT to eat it I'm going to it it since eating is a sturggle at this point. I can barely have any sugar right now because it makes me sick, I was on a chicken kick and now any meat grosses me out. The last couple weeks I barely cooked and we just ate whatever my husband and I could rustle up (Which is difficult with all our allergies) This week I made a meal plan, almost everything is cooked in the crockpot so I just have to dump it in so we can have a healthy meal.

I am rarely cooking and everything is unappealing too--this is so different than with my first pregnancy almost three years ago! I think orange juice is the only thing I am truly enjoying right now. My midwife says to keep the protein going all day, but it is so hard!

Meat is probably the #1 offender. Veggies (especially leafy greens) are also pretty revolting. Honestly most food makes me want to yak right now! I get really excited when I can think of a food I'd like and can get it quickly. Usually things are appealing for a quick second, but if I spend any time thinking about it, they suddenly flip to gross. Cereal is pretty much the only thing I can eat with consistency, and it usually helps with the nausea too.

I'm craving salty mushrooms. A LOT. I get nauseated when I eat sugar.

My aversions are really moody lol.gif For the most part meat is disgusting. Don't really want any veggies either. I want cheese, yogurt crackers. Salty and sour things are good for the most part. Potato chips are divine and so are lime popsicles (all natural).  bag.gif  Sugar aversion started immediately after conception for me. I'm a serious sugarholic so that was a major clue to pregnancy. I was able to get down some awesome chicken tacos yesterday so that was good. I just can't eat much at a time right now either. I'm full very fast.

I'm only 5 weeks, so I'm sure I will have more aversions/cravings as things move along. Right now my major aversion is sweets. I had no idea that you could NOT want sweets ;) But I see that other posters are feeling this way too. Since January, I've cut down my sugar intake to just a bit of 90% dark chocolate and honey now and then. Now I can't even stand sweetened salad dressing or ripe fruit--even the smell. I think this is a pretty awesome aversion since I was worried the pregnancy cravings would take over and I'd be eating bubblegum and reese's like my last pregnancy :P

JustJenny - i was the same way, usually PMS leaves me desperately wanting chocolate, and when hubby bought me some Reese's and i was like ,"hm, sounds gross," I knew I might be pregnant!!  lol

Sugar is unappealing, as is meat.  I keep wanting fruit smoothies.  Those are sweet.  But like I don't want candy or doughnuts or cake or anything.  Even ice cream or chocolate just seems "eh."  SO unusual for me.  Seriously.

milomama - that's how I was last pregnancy!!  I was so hungry and wished I could just never eat.  The only thing I could stomach that sounded remotely okay was mac n' cheese.  And that's probably why I gained 60 lbs, lol.

Lately, I've actually been wanting spicy/savory stuff.  I made myself a sandwich with that queso fresco flavored Laughing Cow cheese, and lots of pepperoccini peppers.  I think I spelled that wrong.  Anyway, it was AMAZING.

Also, when the hunger hits, it hits like a ton of bricks, like I must get food immediately or my stomach just hurts!  And then usually partway into whatever I'm eating, the whole thing seems disgusting and I have to get rid of it. Bizarre.

Cravings just started for me in the past couple of days (I'm 6 weeks as of yesterday). Yesterday afternoon, I needed coconut shrimp and cheesecake. DH was awesome and stayed home with the boys while I went out to Outback with my mom and got coconut shrimp with asparagus and my mom and I split the HUGE dessert sampler yummy.gif My big aversion right now is chocolate, so I let her have the brownie.

Then this morning I just had to have a huge bowl of cooked cauliflower for breakfast. It smelled so terrible while it was cooking but tasted so good!

I am craving fruit, which is odd b/c usually I crave not good food first trimester.

I'm not sure if it's really a true pregnancy-related craving yet, but I've been really craving salty or spicy foods! Salty is normal for me - I don't drink nearly enough water. But I normally HATE spicy food!

Last night around midnight I *really* craved pizza, but DP didn't want to order in :(

Definitely salty stuff. Also, fruits/smoothies. I haven't been able to stop thinking about spicy chicken enchiladas all day. I'm just about 6 weeks, and have had a yucky taste in my mouth since yesterday.

With my first, I craved nachos -- like just chips, cheese and pickled jalapenos so we called him Nacho for a long time.

Now I crave garlic.  Fresh garlic with chili oil goes on EVERYTHING.

My sister jokes that this one should be called Stir fry.

Anyone dealing with total food aversion? I gag on everything that enters my mouth. Even plain noodles. At this point I'm just forcing down whatever I can. It is staying down for the most part but it all tastes horrible. I was existing on dairy but now that tastes rotten. Meat makes me gag the most. To add to the pain I now have heartburn. I'm so miserable greensad.gif Anyone deal with this? Did it pass soon?

I felt that way with my first pregnancy. It lasted through my first trimester. It is really hard. Have you tried some bubbly mineral water?

I have just not really wanted to eat until dinner. I can stomach fresh fruit during the day time, but not much else. At dinner I have been craving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pancakes and pizza. I just tried to eat eggs and almost threw up on my plate.

Almost nothing sounds good to me these days. And even if something sounds good, it might only sound good for 5 minutes. I had such high hopes for eating really healthy this pregnancy but all I'm eating is basically just carbs. I've been taking vitamin B6 to try to help with the nausea and I think it's helping. My nausea went away around 10 weeks with my second, I didn't have it at all with my first, so I'm hoping this won't be too much longer.

My fresh garlic craving is over. I had to go get raisin bran for breakfast the other day and I haven't eaten box cereal in years.

Right now I hate garlic and onions. Which I normally love and put in almost everything. I'm still having a really hard time cooking anything because most things sound gross. Right now I'm loving fresh fruit and cereal. I just made homemade Grape Nuts cereal today and that really hit the spot! When I get a sudden craving it is normally for something terrible for me... irked.gif Like others have said, I was determined to eat well this pregnancy but most veggies gross me out. I still try to eat them but can only take a few bites. Most meat hasn't been sitting well with me either. With my first pregnancy I didn't have this much trouble with food, only cilantro and corn... Weird huh?!? My hope is that this will change when I hit 12 weeks.. Under two weeks to go!

Meg- I am right there with you. I will get hungry out of no where and it will hit so hard that if I don't eat something right then I feel like I am going to lose it! (both in moodiness and sickness)nut.gif
