DH has shingles.... how to prepare for chicken pox?

Hi All-

I have 3 kids (almost 5, 2.5 and almost 4 months), they have had no vaccines, which we are completely comfortable with, but I know that sometimes home treatment for illnesses such as chicken pox can be dangerous, such as advil use?  I don't really want them to get pox right now, with the baby being so little, but I think I should probably take advantage of it being here.  All of that being said, how can we make our kids more comfortable and what can we use to help us get through this?  Any advice welcome!

If you have had CP and are ebf, there's a good chance baby may not get it...there's a chance the kids won't get cp anyway, unless they come into contact with shingles fluid--are you going to intentionally expose them, or just let nature take it's course?  Oatmeal baths help with itching..here is also some good ideas   http://www.ayurvediccure.com/home-remedies/chicken-pox.htm

Unless they have direct contact with your DH's shingles fluid - they likely will not get it.

If they do - DO NOT TREAT WITH FEVER REDUCERS - yes this can be dangerous despite what any allopathic MD tells you. Look into homeopathy to treat symptoms - much safer and more effective

How is your husband feeling?

He is feeling pretty good.  He has a small patch of the blisters/ burn on his lower back and that seems to be it.  He is noticing some pain while urinating, so the nerve pain isn't just localized to the blistered patch.

The blisters have not popped yet and we are keeping it well covered.

While I do want the kids to get Pox in childhood, I am too nervous about the baby getting it at this point.  We are going to avoid it right now.  Too bad since I don;t know when we will have access to it again.

I had shingles on my stomach and was BFing my baby, who was around 6 months old, and she didn't get CP. Almost a year later, DH got them really bad, and my 3 year old got them, and passed them onto her sister.

Too bad you can't take advantage of this opportunity to get them over with!
