to jog or not to jog

ok, i'd like to start a walking routine, but I'd like to do it first thing in the morning, at 7:00. Here's the problem. DH goes to work, so I would need to bring dd with me in the jogger. She usually goes to bed around 10/10:30 so that she gets daddy time, which means she usually wakes to nurse around 6:30/7 and continues to sleep until 8 and sometimes 9am. She of course could fall asleep in the jogger.

The question is..would it be mean to get her up and dressed or just a way of teaching her to take care of her body (by seeing me do it)
thanks in advance!

Are you a SAHM? How about 9 am? Or 8 am or whenever she wakes up? Its still technically "first thing in the morning" for her.

Amen!

I understand the want to work out first thing in the am. I like to do that too. But I just know from experience that my kids do so much better if they can get up when they are ready. So if I want to do something before they get up I will do some yoga, drink some coffee, clean the kitchen etc. It is still nice to get up b4 them and be productive....

Can you run earlier? Go out by yourself while DH is still home? If you leave at 5:45, you'd be back before her morning nursing. If you want to take her, maybe you could wait for her morning nursing, sneak away and get dressed, then put her into the stroller pj's and all. My daughter reacts very badly to getting changed and dressed before she's awake for the day.

I'm not a morning person: I run when I get home from work. I nurse DD and then pop her in the stroller while DH prepared dinner. I'm not sure how this is going to work once it gets warmer, though... Could a routine like that possibly work? We're getting a ton of use out of our crock pot these days...

You will have to experiment to find which way is actually going to get you out there exercising.

If going out in the very early AM *before* your dd wakes up to nurse works for you then do it.

If you are worried about her falling asleep in the stroller, head out around the same time she naps(late morning or afternoon nap). That is what I used to do, and I would be able to get a good hour of walking in during her naps (I still do and she is 2.5 now). Fortunately, she is a sound sleeper, so I can move her from stroller to house without a problem, and if she does wake up I could easily nurse her back to sleep. If your dd doesn't transfer easily from stroller to the house, try bringing the stroller in the house so she can sleep in the stroller.

If you really want to go at 7:00, make sure you are dressed and ready to go, so that you can bundle up dd, nurse her and pop her into the stroller, so she can sleep like she normally does.

Try different ways to see what works
