SAH/WAHMs, what do you do all day with your baby? (First time moms, especially!)

If you have more than one, I'm sure baby is mostly along for the ride, though you probably get a bit of one-on-one time too.  Just wondering for those times like today when I am home by myself a good 8 hours with Miss L (usually it's 2-5 hours at a time, at most).  For reference, she is 11.5 weeks and pretty "interactive."

Besides the obvious...

-Nursing

-Diaper changes/pottying

-Naps

Here is what we do...

-Go for a walk outside in the mei tai

-Read books

-Play on a play mat or bed or whatever, her on her back (some of this is her occupying herself, some with me)

-Have "conversations" with her sitting on my lap (doesn't last more than 10 minutes)

-Tummy time (I wasn't planning on doing this as she doesn't "need" it and heard most kids hate it, but she actually likes it/is "good at it," so we do a little)

-A little singing and dancing around to music (we like Pandora's Twist & Shout station)

-We bounce on the exercise ball a bit if she's sleepy

Any other ideas?  What do you do?

I don't feel like I have to "entertain" her constantly, so whether it's direct or indirect interaction, I am all for it.  I have ADD myself and it's challenging for me not to get bored after about 5 hours alone with her, even though I also love it FTMP.  It's not her that's boring, it's more what we're doing, after a few rounds.  She does seem to like to switch things up, too, so I couldn't just do one or two activities all day-- she'll complain, LOL.

What say you?

This sounds a lot like my day, every day (FTM, on mat leave for a year), though I put her in her bouncy chair most days at around dinner time so she can watch me wash dishes and make food while I blast the radio for her. I try to make a point to have her play by herself for a little while every day now that she's getting old enough to do so, since she spends literally every waking moment with me and/or strapped to me otherwise.

I really like to watch tv/movies and she is drawn to any sort of screen (even my phone), so I've had to essentially give that up, which means that she's my main source of entertainment all day.

ditto on giving up movie time. hubby is guilty of letting her watch the iTunes visualizer while listening to music though when i'm in the shower..she can't go that long (seriously 5 minutes) without me. i only use the computer when she's napping and hubby watches tv at night when she's already passed out.

we do all of those things too, as well as sitting in the park grass on a blanket. we just chill, then walk around. i take her to go see the chickens down the street every morning that it's not rainy, she is starting to enjoy watching them. we have to cross a bridge over the creek to get there and she LOVES watching the water. so excited/anxious to get her in baby swim class but they make you wait until they're 6 months. ugh

she is getting more and more fun to hang out with except for this fussy phase.

lots of hang out/smile/talk/dance time. she makes a great dance partner, never steps on my toes. and 2 walks at least, every day.

I have 4 now so I hardly remember but back when I had 1-2-3 kids I spent a lot if time cleaning and baking & sewing/crafting - it was easy to take up a big chunk of the day with that stuff .. I've always been a baby is along for the ride type- I did more playing with #1 but I can't say it is my favorite thing

I have no typical day but some things do seem to repeat. We wake up around 7:30 or 8 and do a big nurse and then he usually snuggles back down and we sleep again for another hour or so. I make a pot of decaf while he rotates from time in the bouncer to lounging in the boppy to lying in the playgym. After that we're out with the stroller having coffee or brunch with friends and walking the beach or canals. He sometimes passes out for a good long chunk of time in the afternoons when i power clean the apartment or (like now) catch up on the interwebs. He comes with me for a grocery shop if I do one and then we start dinner. So far I've had lots of cooking help from visiting family so this tends to be when we do more cuddles and get into jammies and sleepsack so he's all ready for our big walk after dinner with daddy. He either arrives home from the walk asleep and is down at 9 or he wriggles in the bouncer listening to conversations till we all turn in around midnight. Really other than the chopped up sleep schedule and stopping to nurse/diaper it's just what I normally would be doing if i'm on a break from work or school. I think i'll be wanting to start working again from home in the autumn.

Wow, Typebug, he sounds so chill!  I mentioned in another thread that we had a reunion of my MWs March babies and all except ours (and maaaybe one other, of 5) acted like your DS (appears to).  Everyone commented on how loud and super-active Miss L was.  Ah!

Thanks for the confirmation, all, that this is pretty much the routine for now.  I did add something on Friday-- we finally did maybe 15-20 mins of infant massage with this video (I had watched it when pregnant, but hadn't really tried it):

She loved it, so we'll probably do it every day or two.
