Lets play "guess that rash..." ugh!

DS has a weird rash...skin colored to barely pink and raised bumps. Its concentrated in his tummy crease and right above his penis. None is on his buns or scrotum. What could this be? It doesn't seem to bother him, although it did pop up quickly...he's had it once before. I thought it was a heat rash, but it was not hot at all today...???

Sounds like a heat rash...or a sweaty rash....Even if its not hot all body temps are different so he might be hotter than you. Also have you been using aplix near the tummy ?? Can it be scratching him ??

OK, guess our rash.:LOL

We have been battling this for about a week. My 2yob has huge welts between his legs. They look like moon craters. And a couple of them look like they may have infection in them as they are yellow inside. I have tried ointments, anti-bacterial stuff, Mylanta and Caladryl. They are getting better but what is it???

wow that doesnt sound good, I wish I could see a picture(not for a weird reason but because it is really easy for me to diagnose on site, considering I have seen HUNDREDS of butts with rashes in the daycare over the years)

does this sound anything like it?

Impetigo: This type of rash can appear as yellow-brown crusty patches or pus filled pimples or blisters, which is usually accompanied by a lot of surrounding redness. This rash can cover the buttocks, lower abdomen, anus, umbilical cord, and thighs and then spread to other parts of the body. Impetigo is caused by bacteria (streptococci or staphylococci).

Sounds exactly like what my dd had last fall! She is VERY sensitive and was in sposies for a few weeks while I was pg. It started as just a typical rash, but turned into a staph infection (impetigo like explained above). I HATE antibiotics, but after trying EVERY natural remedy in the book, that was the only thing that worked. I suggest taking him to the doctor to get it looked at.

Hope it heals quickly!!!

I just hesitate to take him in because he already ended up on antibiotics for a skin infection from diaper rash. And then yeast cream another time. It doesn't say a lot for cloth when I keep battling rashes.

We may be coming up a well visit soon. I'll take him with me if I can't conquer this myself.

Kim - kyla had something like that once but after a few weeks we realized it was a reaction to orange juice.... but even tho she hadnt had any in a while it was REALLY hard to get it to go away. I think we had to give her antibiotics too and she still has a small scar from one

I agree with the first response.... sounds like prickly heat to me, my boys got it often in disposables and cloth and it always came on the front under the bellybutton and on the pubic area.
