Using care-credit or getting medi-cal to pay for homebirth?

Hi ladies,

I'm not sure this is the right subforum but here I go...

Have any of you used care credit or were able to get medi-cal to pay for a homebirth? I have some available credit with them and while I'd rather just pay straight cash, funds are scarce lately and I'd like to use care credit for the initial deposit.

Supposedly, you can slide it just as you could a regular credit card I belileve? I'm not really sure.

I think we are going with Sue Wolcott for our waterbirth and I'm SO excited!

I was going to apply until i read online that it has a high interest and its not really something you should do. We have low credit score and high credit ratio of many credit cards. we didnt want to add a 16th credit card to our collection. So we decided on no home birth this time and go to a vbac friendly hospital with a vbac doctor.

I really want a water birth at home. I've wanted one since before first DD was even conceived and am terribly sad that my DH lost his job and we ended up on medi-cal for insurance for this pregnancy. I really want to make it work and guess I'll have to go into more debt to get it!

I wasnt trying to sway you away. My husband is the kind that doesnt like being in Debt and he isnt going to go crazy broke with no food in the house to pay off a $4500 Loan just for a home birth. I also agree with him. Its about being Broke vs a Want.

I think the place to start is with your MW - she will know if she can bill Medicare and, if not, may have some solutions for you. Another thing to do is to ask around if there are any other MWs who do take Medicare.
