I had to do a food journal for three days. Luckily it was during a 3 day period where I was feeling really good and could eat lots of raw veggies..... so my diet was perfect. My diet IS perfect when I'm feeling good... but even at almost 19 weeks I still have days where it sounds better to list on protein shakes and smoothies all day because the thought of vegetables... fish... eggs... even fruit--  makes my stomach turn-- too much flavor and texture overload I think. My food log was so perfect .. it was like.. coconut milk yogurt + berries for breakfast, almonds for snack, big salad with quinoa for lunch, raisins and almonds for a snack, steamed vegetables with brown rice and salmon for dinner. Honestly that IS how I eat-- and how I ate before I got pregnant- I was really consistent and really good at just keeping a balanced diet. now... it's like i'm lucky if I eat a big colorful raw salad twice a week. I am sooooo hoping that the second trimester ease kicks in soon, I really need it. energy, balanced mood, returned appetite... still waiting!!

Anyone else having weird body symptoms??? This might sound weird but the other day I popped my boobs out of my shirt to show my husband how HUGE they were, and I squeezed them (not hard) and drops of liquid came out both of them and ran down my shirt!!! it was clear and cloudy and sticky-- like a lot of it. SO WEIRD. I am only 19 weeks- WHAT IS THIS?? Also when I lay in bed, my uterus sticks up out of my skin like some kind of alien tumor, I can clearly see the boundary of where it begins and ends- AGHGHGHHH! So crazy. My lips are also impossibly dry and cracking and my CHEST is breaking out... I have clogged pores on my cleavage. very attractive.

I've been breaking out on my back, chest and upper arms. Not pleased at all.

Yogini, I think it's normal to be leaking some colostrum already. I'm 18w4d, but I'm still nursing my youngest so I can't compare it to this time, but I'm pretty sure I was leaking by this point last time. I'm super broken out all over my face, chest and arms. My skin was beautiful in my first two pregnancies, so I was hoping for that again. No such luck. My hands are horribly dry and cracking. This pregnancy has definitely not been kind to my looks.

That said, we eat pretty healthy in general, but this summer I feel like I'm being severely deprived by spending the only summer of my adult life completely without gin and tonics (I had spring babies before), and further dietary shifts are really totally beyond me! blush.gif

I miss miss miss having a drink while I make dinner. My last practice sort of encouraged half a glass of wine towards the end of pregnancy, but I doubt this practice has such a relaxed attitude towards alcohol.

I wish we had that diet. We just started raising chickens (mostly for eggs but we got dual purpose heritage breeds to hopefully slaughter when they stop laying), and I've thought about adding rabbits and bees eventually. We live on a heavily wooded property, so I have a sort of unproductive garden. However, the farmers' market finally opened. We did a CSA in past years, but my husband vetoed it this year...and honestly, since our last shares went through November, we'd probably end up throwing a lot out once the baby came, so I didn't put up much of a fight.

I really want to start raising rabbits and keeping bees. I love rabbit but I decided to wait until I feel settled into having two kiddos first. We've actually asked our neighbor to raise our pig on their property this season just so we can focus on getting the house ready for the new baby/dealing with the lead abatement issues without having to worry about fencing and feeding a big animal. So, for this summer we have chickens and we're getting a few ducks as well.  Even though I have friends who run CSA farms I totally understand not opting in. I like to be too specific about what I buy to sign up and fortunately we have a nice level sunny spot for a garden on our property and a lot of friendly local farmers for everything I can't/don't have the patience to grow.

LOL!! I was drunk on marshmallows last night then :) You're lucky your DP is picking reasonable names, and he's right about the kids getting excited knowing what sex the baby is. My DS (who is quite the stoic anti-social computer boy) actually texted his friends with the girl news!! Seriously - you could have knocked me over with a feather when parents of his friends rang to congratulate us! Happi.. I have NEVER felt more like a nice quiet drink than the last couple of days.. sigh.. I guess I do have marsh mallows though :) Everyone else.. I'm too sleep deprived to remember anything else I wanted to comment on! But I'm sure it was to do with food.. LOL AFM .. we start the closing down sale in our shop today (it's 5am and I'm painting 25%off signs) so it's on like Donkey Kong! So sad to close the door on what has been my life for so long, BUT soon my DH will be driving a truck on building sites & I'll be a housewife for a while.. I'm sure this will make him feel manly :) After having maybe one week off a year for over a decade, this is gonna be pretty awesome!

PS Just bought my first things for the baby...I'm getting pretty excited!

This is totally off-topic, but the Squatty Potty advertisement that pops up every time I log on with the really happy woman sitting on it fully clothed is really starting to get on my nerves! lol.gif

Happi-- YES! hahahaha I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's like wtf is this woman doing sitting on this toilet (does it look gigantic to anyone else??) and she is gonna have a mess if she keeps her pants up like that lol. And wearing all white too, haha! If it was honest advertising, she would be very pregnant, red in the face trying to poo. lol

happi - Lol, you are more than welcome to adopt me!  Heehee.  I'm sure I've gotta be cracking some people up with my fascination regarding this first-time pregnancy.  My husband is so curious, too.  Sometimes, I feel so old to be beginning a family at 30, but then I remember that I've only ever really wanted 2 kids, and I'm going to have plenty of time for the second.  :)

yogini - man, last night, my left boob did practically the same thing!  I was snuggling with the husband, and when I sat up, I had a big old wet spot on my shirt.  I guess at almost 21 weeks, it's probably normal, but it freaked me out!  If I squeeze it, nothing comes out, but it continued to sort of dribble all night.  :/  Good thing I'm a weird bargain shopper and I already had some breast pads I'd found at a consignment store.

Still... now what?  What if my right boob never catches up?  I noticed that my nipple is way bigger on the left, too.  I feel like I have one overachieving boob and one that's just lagging behind.  :P  Get with the program, Righty!  Also, if my husband laughs as hard as he did last night when it happened ever again, I'm going to murder him.  Punk.

I'm also so freaking itchy.  My arms are driving me nuts!  My cocoa butter lotion helps, but I don't want to be lathering that on constantly and sitting around all sticky.  Grargh.

Mrs Squatty should be in a bathrobe. That would have her clothed but make sense...
Ugh. My six year old just vomited in her hair, on her bed... Poor girl! She's sleeping in my bed with her brother, but now I can't sleep. Anyone else having sleep issues already?
Oh no revolting, I hope it was just a one time event for you tonight! Poor wee girl! In regards to sleep issues, I find I'm struggling to get comfortable already and once I get up more than once for the bathroom I struggle to go back to sleep extra trips can see me awake for over an hour. So frustrating.

I agree Miss Squatty potty looks far to happy about her endeavours than she should, a bathrobe would be more suitable as she just looks odd. Maybe they don't even need a modelled photo, we get the idea. Hehe.
Saturday night here and the boys are up late watching a screening of Peter Pan. Ds1 got to feel his baby sister kick properly for the first time tonight, which was cute!

Hot as hades her in Norheast US (to contrast Danielle's freezing!)

Just a quick update. Had a last minute cerclage placed yesterday (stitched up my cervix) seems to have gone well. The pressure I was feeling inthe area is relieved but the babes have also shifted a bit so A is not head down ON my cervix anymore (phew!). Am still in the hospital (my spinal was a shit show -- I have a mild scoliosis so they had massive problems == ouch). last night all 3 babes heart rates seemed good. Hard to find them since they're reorganized a little!

Cramping has died down and I'm feeling much better! Will be back home on my couch later today. A little scary initially but really relieved to have it done. Cervix had shrunk even more this past week while ON bed rest!

Send some of that heat this way Guppyluv! I'm really pleased to hear your procedure went well, can I ask when they'll remove the stitches? Take care and rest up lots!
I totally feel like I live on the other side of no where sometimes, I have a secret trashy t.v obsession sssshhhhh! It's embarrassing! I'm watching the bachelorette only to find out that the season that is currently screening here in nz was filmed in 2011..... Talk about behind the times *sigh*
post #76 of 99

Wishing you the fastest most successful bedrest ever, guppyluv!

Guppy, glad to hear the cerclage placement went well. Keep those babies in and cooking! winky.gif

I just finally announced on FB! I never really had a plan how to do it and was kind of putting it off and putting it off because it just felt weird and attention-grabby to post something. But finally I decided we'd get a couple of cute t-shirts and post something after the anatomy scan. So we posted a pic of us - me wearing a shirt that says "Eating for 2" and him wearing a shirt that says "She's eating for two...I'm drinking for three!" (LOL) with a caption that baby girl would be arriving in October. biggrinbounce.gif

Slammerkin.. awesome idea! that's so cute!! :) Danielle.. I had a secret trashy show that I watched when DH went to his band practice. One day he came home early and busted me watching "Temptation Island" in bed... I could have died of embarrassment LOL Oh the shame! That show was SO terrible! (and awesome) Guppy.. Hope your back home and chilling again. Glad the hospital visit was a success - will the stitches stay in for the whole pregnancy or do you get new ones as you grow? Revolting.. night time vomits are the worst! Sleep issues? Yep! I've had insomnia since I got pregnant. I've always been prone to all night worrying when things are hard, and I guess this year has been particularly stressful. But waking up for a wee at 2am usually means that's the start of my day atm. Now I'm feeling so much better I do my housework whenever I get up now though, so at least it's getting done :) We started our closing down sale yesterday and had a great day! It was a particularly rainy stormy day, which usually means a bad trading day - but we took 3 times our usual Saturday takings :) :) Yay!! Still have $150,000 worth of stock to try to sell in 6 weeks, but at least it's a good start.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with bumps all over!  My chest, upper shoulders and back are covered- clogged pores or something.  I asked my midwife about it, she said it's probably my liver trying to get rid of the waste and suggested Alfalfa pills . . .I haven't noticed any difference but it might work for someone else.  SO annoying!  And last week they moved to the top of my belly :(  So much for feeling lovely this pregnancy!

guppy-  glad to hear the procedure went well!  I didn't know what cerclage was until now.

It's funny you mention this.  I am still on the fence about posting something on facebook. I posted my 20 week ultrasound with my first but for some reason this time I feel weird doing it. I'm a really private person in general (as is DH) so I guess its kind of the attention-grabby aspect as you put it.  There are friends that I don't talk to super regularly but would still like to tell and facebook would be the easiest way.  I think I may be putting way to much thought into this.

revolting- I've been having a terrible time sleeping.  I've always had issues sleeping and when I'm pregnant they are just exacerbated.  Thank god for Rescue Remedy!

Of course, last night's insomnia probably had to do with the fact that it was 80 degrees in my bedroom and we didn't have a fan on and I had gotten no less that 30 black fly bites (most of them on my neck!) that were itching to the point of insanity. Apparently you shouldn't take a shower with rose scented soap and then try to go out in the garden and plant things unless you enjoy being swarmed.  So, that was my last day of being all "I'm not going to use any DEET!".  I basically bathed in it today and didn't get any more bites. I can't wait until black fly season is over in mid-june.
