So my period is 3 weeks late. I thought about taking a pregnancy test but I had no bleeding. I always bleed in pregnancies. A LOT! And I just didn't at all. So today i had some spotting and all of a sudden i think. OMFG! AM I PREGNANT? I got  a bfn and its just my period finally showing. But it got me wondering about other women.

I had no bleeding or spotting, which I was grateful for b/c I am the nervous sort. :)

With my first pregnancy, I bled in the first trimester. It was quite a bit -- I thought I got my period, so I didn't realize I was pregnant until I just got an intuitive feeling a couple of weeks later and took a pregnancy test. I was horrified, because I had used tampons and taken ibuprofen during my "period," two things you totally shouldn't do when you're pregnant.

I figured it was implantation bleeding or something and didn't think much about it, but then at 7 weeks I bled rather heavily again (not crazy heavy, but not spotting -- it was like a light-to-normal period), and then I got really scared. It was over the weekend, so I called my OB's message service and the on-call doctor called me back and matter-of-factly told me that it was a "threatened miscarriage," so I lived in fear and grief until an ultrasound a few days later, and then for the rest of that pregnancy I was on pelvic rest and exercise restriction, and terrified that I would lose the baby (who went to 39 weeks and was perfectly healthy).

The only time I have bled in pregnancy was when I lost the pregnancies. I dont think bleeding during pregnancy is unheard of in healthy pregnancies, but is usually not a good symptom to have for most woman.

Bleeding I think happens in 30% of pregnancies and though never normal does not always mean the pregnancy will end in loss.

I bled in my losses and my only living child. But my losses happened significantly later after the bleeding ended.

I had no bleeding in either pregnancy. Even when I had a placental abruption at then end of the second one.

I only had bleeding precipitating miscarriages, spotting for a couple weeks or so before miscarrying.

I've had spotting ranging from light and brown to moderate and red in two of my full term pregnancies, both in the first tri. With my ectopic, I had nearly two weeks of red but light spotting before the pain got bad enough that I was seen/diagnosed. None of my miscarriages began with spotting, I just started bleeding heavily right from the start.

Yes, some with my oldest during the late 1st trimester and then some really minor spotting with my youngest any time we dtd.

I have some light bleeding for a few days around 8 weeks with my first.  We didn't do ultrasound so I'll never be sure, but I think it might have been a "vanishing twin".   Irregular ovulation run in my family.

Out of my healthy pregnancies, only this one has had bleeding, and then only one episode in the second trimester after sex.

I had HORRIBLE bleeding in week 8 with one of mine. It was bright red and caused me to change my Kotex pad 3 times! (in one day)

BUT . . . . .

I rushed to the doc who immediately found the heartbeat

And upon exam found my cervix closed!

So if this happens to you don't immediately fear the worst, as someone said, it is more common than you might think.

And often all is well.

Always keep the faith.

:)

My 2¢: This is my first pg, and I've had zero bleeding whatsoever.  No implantation bleeding, no spotting during the first tri, nothing.  I'm 16 weeks & some change now and still haven't seen a speck of anything.

What was the 2 cents?

Awesome that you have nor had bleeding. They say 70% of pregnancies have none.

I meant that as just my input/experience/answer to the original question, not opinion or advice or anything. :)

With my first, I had red light bleeding from 7-12 dpo and then a spot around 7 weeks. This pregnancy, I had brown spotting around 14-15 weeks. I had three separate incidents. Was checked out and all was fine. Hoping it is bc I'm on blood thinners.

Never had any bleeding with my three miscarriages until I stopped progesterone.
