Just came back from my appointment, and we are having twins!!!! 2 placentas, 2 little babies, holy smokes! So beyond excited I cant even wrap my head around it right now :)
I didnt suspect at all, it was natural conception, twins dont run in either of our families and I wouldnt say my symptoms were any worse then with my firstborn. I had my first prenatal appointment with the OB this morning and she said my uterus was measuring a bit big for how far along I thought I was so she wanted to do an ultrasound to peek inside and VOILA! We saw and heard two heartbeats and both babies were moving and waved their little arms and legs. My husband still wont believe me, he thought I was joking when I called him after my appt at his work. He will be pretty convinced after I show him the pics this evening :)
Congrats!! I've got to admit I'm a bit jealous (although I haven't had an ultrasound, so I guess there is a chance I could be carrying twins). Ever since I've been a little girl I've been fascinated by the thought of having twins (probably cause I have twin cousins and twin great aunt & uncle) DP has twin siblings. But I think I would be completely overwhelmed with twins at this point in my life. We would definitely need a new vehicle!
Wow! I'm thrilled for you guys! Congrats again!
Wow! Congratulations! That must have been amazing and shocking! I maybe secretly hoped this pregnancy was twins (we still haven't heard a heartbeat, so maybe, I guess, but it doesn't seem any different than my last two and I have no reason to think it might be), since I always wanted 4, and this is it for us (at 3), but in practice I am probably not prepared for all that two at once entails. Good luck and a healthy pregnancy!
The doc immediately found one right away and they she caught a glimpse of a round thing on the corner of the screen, she swooshed the ultrasound wand (internal kind) to get a better look and there was a second baby! I think the only reason she even noticed was because of that 2nd anmiotic sack that was on the corner of the screen--I think if that wasn't there, she would have just taken the wand out and we wouldn't have found out. They are fraternal so they each have their own sack and there is a bit of space between them so the ultrasound wand just saw one initially. She even looked around for a third just in case!
