Lofty: I totally love the shirt.
And did I ever tell you guys I have the title to my book on adventures with kids? Courtesy of Erin. Forgive me if I've posted it.
Wait for it
sparkle, hooray for lead belaying and for a new gym!! I should take a photo of our climbing "gym" because it will make anything else in the universe seem fancy. I just checked the village website, and the only photo is a close-up of a couple of holds. I guess they know that they shouldn't advertise what they're offering. On the plus side, it costs about half of any real climbing gym.
As for the flakiness, I suspect they see you as a brilliant student who prioritized what she could handle at the time. Deep breaths and letting it go. And drinking loads of water- that's some exhaustingly low BP!
jo, congrats on the shoe find and on getting back into exercise.
lofty, I love the image truck stop yoga! I used to travel with a soccer ball to play rest stop games, though usually any grassy area was a minefield of dog poop. We once stopped to play and there was a couple walking their goat on a leash alongside our soccer game. Safe travels.
RR- About to go for a quick run before school pick up.
NRR- I'm feeling chronically behind right now- I can't quite get ahead with the classes I'm teaching, plus the yard and house. I usually decide that I can either have yard OR house relatively organized but can't quite let go of the desire to have both. On a positive note, I finally finished our taxes just over a month late. It could be that the 30 minutes a day that I've spent on them for the past three weeks are contributing to my sense of pressure. I want to turn around and start the data entry for 2013 now, because it really, really sucks to have to do it all at the end (and late, since we were kind of waiting on my husband's arthritis in his hands to see if he might be able to handle the typing on his own).
I'm coming slinking back in. I've been able to keep up on Facebook at least! Running has been improving, slowly but surely. My biking has been taking off, though! I have a bike fitting on Friday, so I'm hoping to see some improvement from that as well. At least, I'm hoping to do away with the knee tenderness that I have been having after long rides.
It's the last day of school. I am so ready for summer, and no more school for a while!!!
Ok, I'm hoping to be able to keep up on here at least this summer!
Well this week is all about tag team puking it seems. Yesterday Ali G made it to 3/4 of her day at school until her afternoon teachers decided she was too tired to go on. Then last night at 11:00 (it's always around then isn't it?) C started puking. Dh was a star though, he cleaned up the enormous pool of vomit from the bathroom so I didn't begrudge him the sleep when she called only for me every few hours (and happily it was only every few hours) for the rest of the night. So I'm missing boxing again today. C seems less sick than Ali G had been on Day 1 so hopefully the whole thing will be over in time for me to get off-island tomorrow to get some stuff for my party on Saturday (and to just get off the island for the first time in 4 months!) And fingers crossed that dh and I don't get it too!
I'm not looking forward to the end of school. I really like having the bus pick up the girls and take them somewhere interesting for most of the day. I can hear the complaints of boredom, the requests for TV time and the indignation that I still have to work now.
JayGee - Welcome home!
MelW - Good call on run over everything else.
Bec - Yay! You're back here! I've been tracking you on FB of course but I like seeing your happy siggie here.
RM - I would imagine that the prospect of training for a full mary with pre-exsting foot pain might be enough to sap anyone's mojo! I hope the taping leads to relief and answers. But could your body be crying out for an alternate activity for a bit?
Gaye - Enjoy the adult time when ds is away!
Lofty - Hope you've all made it safe and sound.
Shanti - Thinking of you in the cold! Hope it turns into a nice summer asap!
Jo - Will Reb come back for some run reports? I've got a package to put in the mail for Roly to make runs nicer for all three of you.
Okay, might as well get productive if I'm not going to be boxing my brains out now.
Plady - oh, yuck, and I hope everyone is on the path to health again. Sorry that all this happened right on your birthday.
Welcome back, Bec!!
Jo, running in 50 degrees sounds like sheer heaven right about now.
Our school finished today, too. My DD2 just finished 5th grade and there were many tears. She will be attending a magnet arts school, so parting ways was tough. DS, on the other hand, was all smiles about school being over. This is the last class to graduate from this school building, as it is being torn down to make way for a brand new elementary and middle school. We will move to an old school that is being used as a "swing" campus for us and the middle school kids until the new buildings are completed. Between that swing location and DD attending a school across town, logistics next year will be challenging. But DD is excited about 6th grade, and DS is just excited to go play in the yard.
Well... I don't want to bring you guys down with awful news, but I have such a heavy heart and thought I would share this here. One of the coaches for the group I run with on the weekends just lost his 9 year old son suddenly the day before yesterday. We - the whole running community here in town - are all in complete shock and just devastated. The funeral is Saturday. I wish I could tell them how inspirational their family has been to this community. I keep thinking, why them? And that I don't know how they can manage to go on. And that life is terribly cruel sometimes, things like that. Anyway, I had a really good, cathartic run down a peaceful road yesterday, and I am hopeful that I can be strong and be a good friend to them somehow.
