So, I'm about to kick some Daddy butt!
I work nights, leaving Daddio to tooth brushing and sippy weaning duty which he has admitted to failing miserably at after out last dentist appointment.
Little history, my son's father's, mother and her brothers have rampant caries and weak enamel resulting is extraction of all their teeth before age 25!
My side had the same problem a couple generations back.
When my son was 1 1/2 my kiddo chipped 4 teeth on a chair, resulting in extraction. Without anesthesia, just novocain.
Here we are a year later and my son when in for a check up. There is 1 huge caries in b1 and a big cavity in b2. ( first top 2 molars)
He confessed to late night chocolate milks and falling asleep with the sippy as well as " as needed " brushing.
Needless to say, I'm completely distraught, angry and worried.
The dentist says they will not do anesthesia or laughing gas, just hold him down and give him a shot.
I''ve tried everywhere, even traveling to bigger cities and still no luck
Sadly, my lovie will be facing a terribly terrifying experience of getting fillings and an extraction with just restraints and novacaine.
Not sure how to handle this
So far it's been a lot of crying. He is in so much pain and I'm getting him in ASAP but I'm not sure if I can handle it.
I'm on Medicaid, leaving me little options.
If any mommy's have been through this without laughing gas/sedation at such a young age
your experiences and advice as well as how to make this easier for him will be greatly appreciated
