So here's the story, my husband's cousin (who literally grew up in the same house as him, closer to him than a sibling) is getting married two weeks before my due date (I'm due July 28th, wedding date is the 13th). We're all super excited, the only problem is we're in Vancouver, BC and she's in Guelph, Ontario. It's a four hour plane ride to get to her. And yes, I would be allowed, I've already checked with airlines. I just need a note from my midwife saying I'm low risk and not likely to give birth on the plane.
I talked to my mid wife about it, and she's not super happy, but is willing to write the note, and try to find a midwife in the Guelph/KW-Cambridge area to support me if necessary. She said it's up to us.
So far, I've had a super boring, low risk pregnancy (horrible symptoms aside). There's no reason to think I'd go into labour at 38 weeks, I've had no pre term labour symptoms.
I know that Chris could go to the wedding without me, but if I went into labour and had the baby before he could get back, he'd never ever forgive himself, and his family wouldn't either. (they're the type to "jokingly" hold shit over your head for years).
The other thing is that if we can't find a midwife to support me during labour, I'd end up with the OB of the day at the hospital, which I am totally NOT okay with.
Obviously, the health of my Bean is foremost importance to me and Chris, but if the weekend came and went, and Bean didn't show and Chris missed Tiffany's wedding, I'd never forgive myself.
Another note is I've had two friends give birth in that area with midwives.
