As a non-vaxxer, I've been asked to produce an article about the dangers of vaccines for a local parenting magazine — or rather, half an article, really. Someone else is writing a portion about the risks of not vaccinating, so this is going to be really interesting.
I'm asking for your help, because I don't have a lot of time (a few days to a week) to complete the article and it's been a while since I've looked at vaccine stuff. The article focuses on measles because of the recent outbreak in Swansea and the growing number of parents refusing the MMR vaccine in this country (Eastern Europe). I will go into other "VPDs" as well.
Could you help with links, or personal stories about your experience with measles? The other person will, I'm sure, choose traditional arguments in favor of vaccines — herd immunity, VPDs can have serious complications in a minority of cases, etc. They'll also probably write about Wakefield being a fraud. I need:
- Info on how you have managed measles in your home.
- Links showing the number and type of adverse reactions to vaccines, including the MMR, definitely not focused on autism.
- Anything else you really like ;)
- Do you have any really pro-vaccine articles that are well-written? I'd like to see them so I can work on presenting the other side.
Thanks very much!
