Waldorf is akin to Montessori in that it's a distinctly different type of education from the average public school, but in practice, they are very, very different.

I loved the Waldorf nursery/kindergarten/first grade my daughter attended, but she needed something different from her school and she now goes to a Montessori school. They both have good and bad points.
You might find that on this board there are some people who really dislike Waldorf education, based on their own personal experiences. Try not to let strident opinions get in the way of you educating yourself about what's best for your kids.
