I'm here too! Sorta surprised this hasn't gotten a few more replies by now :( Oh well. I guess summer is busy for a lot of people. We've been pretty busy, I guess? We've got our house on the market (REALLY slow market... no good at all). I don't know what we DO, but it feels busy.
I somehow thought last year that a baby in the summer would be AWESOME- spend all day in parks and outside, the older two would run around and have fun, etc. But it was too hot, Everett was a miserable screamy mess for the first few months and we mostly stayed inside. So I told myself this summer will be AWESOME- spend all day in parks and outside, everyone would run around and have fun but it's again not really happening. At the beach or water parks, Everett gets whiney after the first hour or so, the other two need way mroe attention then I had anticipated. At the playground Everett desperately wants to climb everything and go down the slide- and he can do it, most of the time, but requires serious watching and assistance. Really mystifying that a not-quite 14 month old is mostly capable of climbing those rock climbing walls, rope ladders- most of the time. He does fall off the wall or fall through the rungs of the ladder, hence the very active watching. He throws a totally hissy fit if I try to take him off the equipment. Parks are now a lot of work and standing in the sun spotting a baby for hours at a stretch- kinda boring after a bit. So.... we're staying inside a lot :/ Next year? Next summer will be awesome?
Everett is overall doing really well. He's working hard on language and has a bunch of words already (cat, dog, more, juice, mommy, daddy, cookie, "that?", book, bird, light). He climbs EVERYTHING. Not unusual to find him standing on the kitchen table - yikes! We're doing swimming lessons with all three kids right now, and he LOVES the water. He loves sorting tiny objects like beads into various containers, and luckily has no desire to put them in his mouth. He doesn't seem to sleep- he still wakes up every 1.5-2 hrs at night. He often doesn't nurse, just can't settle back without help. He probably needs about 3 hours of sleep during the day to make up for late nights and interrupted night time sleep, but he wakes up from naps usually after 45 min-1hr, and I usually can't get him back to sleep and I can't get him to take more than one nap. I expect this from a tiny baby but he's 1! I thought he'd figure it out by now.
We are also in the process of calling everyone imaginable and getting on to every wait list we can for speech therapy for my 3.5 year old son. In March-April his speech was improving, I could understand probably 75% of what he said and friends and family could catch maybe 50%. But now it's worse- I can understand at most 50%, and friends and family just look at him blankly. Poor kid. Because of where we live, we're looking at probably a year or more on wait lists...We looked at private speech therapy, but they wanted $150/hr, and wanted him in for an hour appointment once a week. No way do we have that money right now. It's making me crazy to hear him losing language skills and I have no idea how to fix it.
Hopefully everyone else is having a better summer! I'm getting to the point where I don't really like summer. All this excitement and waiting and hoping and dreaming for the entire winter- then it's here and it's nothing like I'd imagined. Boo.
