My midwife asked me what the plan was for my 3yo ds and 1yo dd during our home birth, our first hb, and I have been going over and over it but am worried that whatever I choose, there might be problems. My wonderful mother in law is on deck so to speak for the children, but would not be comfortable watching them at our house while I'm in labor, she will take them to her house. My son will be great with that, but Daughter has only ever been away 1 night and was less than 24 hours. She is still nursing too, and have been thinking that that might help during labor, others have told me that helps, both to keep things going, and to calm, ground the mama. My ds is already so connected to this ds on the way, I think he might really like being there with us. I just worry that I will be more focused on the children, or that dd will be scared if I make too much noise, or that I will be worried they are in the way of midwife or doula, but crave the whole family together for this amazing event.
Any thoughts or advice from those who have had/decided not to have siblings at home birth? It would be greatly appreciated!!! I normally am quick and confident at making decisions, but this involves so many different aspects and people! Wow!
