Hi all. It's been five days and I am feeling somewhat normal again...normal enough to get on the computer while baby sleeps!
Rory had a scheduled c-section for Wednesday June 12 at 2:00 p.m. I worked Monday and Tuesday of the week and was on my feet the entire day teaching adults. Tuesday after work, I came home and one of my girlfriends came to have one last belly rub and after she left, hubby and the two big boys and I decided on our last dinner out as a family of four. We headed to my favorite pregnancy spot, Jason's Deli and then went over to Bahama Bucks (a shaved ice place) for a big indulgence! i ate two and didn't feel a bit guilty! :)
Once home, we had to get packed for the next day. The boys were packed and we got them to bed, and then I finished getting my things together. Hubby and I dtd and I promised him one more time in the morning ;-) I took a bath and started to have some strong cervical pain...I had been having it periodically for the last couple of days and stronger that day, but attributed it to baby's head on my cervix. We got into bed before 10 and settled in for our last uninterrupted night sleep. I started getting more pains and around 11 decided maybe this is what a contraction felt like (was induced the first time and scheduled c-section the second). I went down stairs to Google "what does a real contraction feel like" when all of a sudden my water broke! I called up to hubby that my water broke and he came flying down stairs! He remembers it was 11:26 ;-)
I called my cousin and her hubby to come stay with the boys and then called the hospital who told me to give my Dr. a call and then come in. So we got dressed and my cousin came and we hopped in the car. Contractions were getting more intense and coming about 2-5 minutes a part.
By the time we got to the hospital, they got me all hooked up and contractions were really coming which was making me nervous, but when they checked me, my cervix was barely even open...seriously, my kids just don't want to come out that way ;-) They got all the prep done and I was finally brought to the OR. My doctor and her partner were there which was great and they got to work. It took a looonng time as my scar tissue was pretty bad. My Dr. told me she was really glad I wanted to be done having babies. Rory was born at 2:34 and was 8 lb 9 oz...right in between my other boys of 8.6 and 8.10. He was perfect :) My Dr. couldn't tie my tubes as there was too much scar tissue.
After getting to the recovery room, baby was eager to nurse and has been a champ ever since! We came home 3 days later and are getting into a routine as a family of five. I'm so glad he is here and that I am healing very well. It's sad that he is my last little bundle, but it makes it all that much more special!
