I get tested Thursday. Fingers crossed that I pass.

Yay!! I don't get tested for another two weeks. *fingers crossed*

Btw, I also just read that the reason you get tested so late is that it "comes and goes." I wonder if you tested positive at 37 wks, what the chances are you'll be negative once you go into labor if its closer to 40,41 wks?

If you take a lot of probiotics, eat low sugar, don't go carb crazy, it could make an impact I think? But, I would just aim to keep a good diet and have probiotics before the test, so hopefully it comes out negative. But, I will say, I have been eating more carbs and sugars now toward the end and still came out fine. I was taking probiotics for a good while, but have run out and gotta order some more.

According to http://evidencebasedbirth.com/groupbstrep/, 9% of women who tested negative at 35-36 weeks became positive, and 16% of women who tested positive became negative.

My midwives also say they have had good luck with the probiotics route for reversing it.

I got tested at 35+1. I don't remember why we did it so early? There was some reason of convenience that I don't remember now, lol. I'm going to keep taking my probiotics and hopefully will stay negative if I don't go into labor at 40w and get tested again!

I don't know what other supplementing you might be doing, but I have started using "Vitamin Code RAW Prenatal" multis, and they have probiotics in the formula. Might be worth looking into if it's one less pill to think about. We were using "Pearls" before switching multis.

The only probiotics I "take" is drinking kombucha. I don't limit my sugars or my carbs. Michel Odent says that putting a raw garlic clove in the vagina is helpful with GBS but I have only used it to control yeast issues several years ago.

Thanks. I've been taking "Ultimate Flora Critical Care 50 billion." After I'm done with pregnancy, I'll probably pick something a bit less potent. I don't always remember to take my prenatals. I got the New Chapter organic prenatals at the beginning of my pregnancy - the one for a trimester and I still have finished the bottle... LOL

I also take 1000mg vit. C, 5000 iu vit. D3 and K2. So, maybe those can help with just keeping a strong immune system for getting a negative result. Or maybe I would always have had a negative GBS test.
