This is a thread almost every DDC has so I thought I'd get one going for our Feb 2014 DDC mamas.
What are your favorite names for a boy or a girl?
Juniper is so cute!
I tend to love a name but then pick it apart too much and drive myself nuts...For example, I had an amazing great-grandma named "Flora," a real rebel who left Switzerland by herself at 19 for America...So pretty, means flower of course but...Hhhmmm...Flora...I hear "floor..." A floor is something people walk all over, oh no!
Good thing I have until February...
I've been stuck on Henry and Adelle. My husband seems to hate Adelle. I also like Charlotte, Olivia, Gabriel or Gabrielle, Gwyneth/Guinevere/Gwendolyn (hubby says nothing that sounds like it could be out of an Arthurian legend...) I like Max, but none of the long forms. Samantha...Hmm...this is hard...
I'm not sure I like any of those names enough to live with forever, though!
My other kids are Catherine, James, and Lillian. So we seem to go with "classic" sounding names.
My husband and I basically can't agree on anything so choosing names is a long arduous process. Finally we struck a deal in which he got to pick the name for a girl and I got to pick the name for a boy, and then whichever didn't get their pick got to name kid #3 if we have one, and we had vetoes for anything we just couldn't tolerate. So this one will be either Samuel or Alexa. I am kind of hoping for a girl because if it's a boy I'm not sure what boy name he'll come up with for the 3rd one! Whereas I actually rather like Alexa, though I didn't like Alexis when he suggested that.
We both like Fiona, but I think it totally doesn't go with our last name and he thinks it does, so that was a sore point.
Other names I like:
DH hates most of these so I'll probably never get a chance to use them.
I have a Fiona and a Maeve. Something Irish and/or old fashioned for us. We really considered both Hazel and Violet last time. I still like those. Boys names are harder. Some favorites are already taken by family members (Eamon) or are way too popular these days (Finn). It will take us a long time I'm sure to figure it out. :)
oh naming babies is sooo hard! we have struggled each time. Our daughters are Elaina and Macy.
I feel like we're having a boy and the name that came to me last pregnancy was Jasper. but DH is not sure. Also Rory, Asher, Arlin, Arden, Milo.
For girls...ummmmm.... maybe Piper, Haylin, Fairen/farren.
I love playing around on Nymbler!
Hubby and I have had names picked out for a while! We tend to go for more earthy names.
If we have a boy, we will name him Montana Jude and a girl will be River Rayne
But other names we like:
Interesting to see at least one of our boy name on two other lists!
Selah (Pronounced Say-lah. I know there are lots of different ways to say that one!)
I really struggle with girls names. Boys are fine - we have a HUGE list. But girls... it's so hard. I feel like they're all either overdone, already belong to someone I know, or are just too "out there" for me!
We also have a hard time with girl names. We have a (ds) Tristan, (dd) Kassiopeia, (ds) Anatoly and (ds) Romneya. This time we are thinking:
Boy: Nikola- that's almost etched in stone. If we didn't choose it for some reason, we might choose Ambrose, or Blaise.
Girl: Xenia (pronounced KSE-nya), Nina, Valarie
We'll just have to meet this one and see which name fits!
