TMI- vaginal discharge

Thread Starter

So I've started wearing panty liners because I was tired of having wet underwear. I *think* I've read this is normal but also just read another post where someone said they're leaking amniotic fluid and I got worried. How do you know? I think it smells different than my normal pre-pregnancy discharge but maybe that's just because I'm pregnant? I can't see much on the panty liner.

Can you help explain this to me? Or tell me if you're experiencing this?

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow if that matters. Thanks!

I thought I was leaking fluid (turns out it was bladder meets baby's head) so I got ph strips from the pharmacy to test it.
I also had some yeast issues that yielded a ridiculous amount of extra discharge. Could there be yeast there?

Edited to add more possibilities.

I have had to wear liners for the entire pregnancy this time. My bladder isn't as good as it used to be(small leaking at times, especially with baby kicks) and I have a bit more mucus.

I would lean toward it probably not being your water leaking, but I like the idea of pH strips to check. You could go to the hospital for that, but if you have a co-pay or just the inconvenience of going there.

Ugh. I've had to wear liners for months! My bladder leaks every time I sneeze or cough. What are these ph strips you speak of? Sometimes I afraid it's amniotic fluid. I'm 37 wks tomorrow.

It was just easier to take a picture... Getting lazy in my advanced pregnancy.

Cool. Thanks. You get them at any pharmacy? What all does it check for?

I'm having a TON of discharge too! I do have tiny leaks when coughing (summer cold.. Ugh) but the discharge is white. It's not like yeast discharge but a lot smoother and thinner, kind of what I'd get during my cycle here or there. I'm completely ignorant of cervical mucus but it's probably that. It's SO much though; I soak through panties fast and (TMI alert) leave what I call slug trails on the toilet seat lol. SO over it all!!

These came a local health food store- but I think most pharmacies will carry them. I did call first and our smaller pharmacy didn't have them so we checked the health food place. They just check acid-alkaline, and are made (I think) for people to check their urine.

I've had heavier-than-pre-preg discharge on and off throughout.

Our childbirth educator said more than once that "it gets juicy, especially towards the end" and I don't think she was kidding.

It's also possible it's a low-level yeast infection. Apparently, they are much easier to get with crazy hormones.
