I'm in the same situation - so far I haven't seen any group activity show up on my profile page. Although there is this ticker to the right in the feed, I have it disabled but others can follow every move of yours on FB using that. I'm not sure if closed group activities show up in there, does anyone know?
I really prefer "secret" just to have that extra bit of privacy protection. I never put my real name on internet forums, or show my face in pictures, and I'm wary of linking to an account where anyone browsing through my posting history and doing searches could put it together. I'm much more comfortable sharing with a small group like our DDC on fb if I think it's harder to connect me back to my username on MDC.
With the closed setting, no one but members can see anything anyone posts, and it won't show up in news feeds or the side bar unless you're a member.
For instance, I see in my newsfeed that I posted, but when I jump on my daughters fb, it doesn't show up under my activity.
Yes, but facebook's description says that the group name and members' names will be visible to the public. I guess I would just opt for the additional level of privacy if it didn't impact users' enjoyment of the group.
Would it be moderated? Would it be completely private from the public? Would who was able to join be controlled; I.e., how would it be ensured that only members of our DDC be permitted to join?
Just my $.02, but I think it would be cool to make this a private group, rather than adding an additional private group- but at a later time when everyone who might want to join in has already done so. Even so, I would probably hesitate to add as much personal info attached to my MDC username. I have a love hate relationship with facebook, but I'm already on there sharing photos and personal stuff, so it's less daunting to share stuff there. Maybe that's just me, lol.
