Looking for a midwife in NE Nevada, Elko Area

Thread Starter

Hello, I'm in Elko, NV and looking for a midwife, who would attend my home birth. I'm 26, FTM, no complications and expect a normal birth in mid September.

If you know of a midwife, who would travel from Reno, Salt Lake or Twin Falls, please let me know. Thank you so much!

You might have some luck if you post this on the "California/Nevada" forum  :)

Probably not, because most likely I would be the one trying to answer it, and I don't know. lol.gif The only referral I got asking midwife people I know was to a CNM, Marian Groff, but CNM's can't attend homebirths in Nevada.

Twin Falls is the closest of the cities listed, so maybe posting in the Idaho area forum might yield some results, but it's still about 3 away. I think the biggest problem is that you're simply too far for regular appointments, and that is a big part of midwifery care.  But maybe you can find someone who would be willing to accept you as a transfer into her care late in your pregnancy, but that's still a longshot.

Good luck to you!

That is unfortunate. Made on Xmas - I organize a directory of traveling midwives. Mainly international travel, but many of them lives in the states. Your other option would be to travel yourself. Anyhow, let me know if you want me to look in to locating a traveling midwife.

Sierra Midwifery won't travel that far.  I asked her if she knew anyone who practiced in Elko, but the only response I got was the CNM.  Reno is about 300 miles away from Elko.  Las Vegas is over 400 miles away.  Twin Falls, ID at 190 miles is the closest, then Salt Lake City about about 240 miles.  I was trying to see if there were any who do travel that far, but I couldn't find out much, just a post on another site by the original poster, asking this question.  I believe she is planning to travel to SLC.
