Ladies, I have a question about swelling of the feet that I hope someone can help answer! I'm almost 36 weeks, and my right foot and ankle started swelling off and on about a week ago. The strange thing is that it seems to be more swollen - and sometimes my left foot gets in on the fun too - when I'm resting. If I spend most of a day sitting down, even with my feet propped up some of the time, I get the ol' sausage toes! But when I'm active all day (I've been painting my house, working in the garden, and doing other active projects for the last month), the swelling goes down and even disappears. Since common sense says that spending hours on one's feet would make them MORE likely to swell, I'm puzzled as to why it's the other way around. And in fact, my feet are most swollen when I wake up in the morning - today they almost felt like those rounded Sketchers tennis shoes!
I've been trying to drink more water (yesterday I drank six quarts!), and I'll ask my midwife about it at my appointment this afternoon, but I wondered whether anyone here understands the pregnant lymphatic system better than I do. Thanks in advance, and I hope all your toes aren't too sausage-like!
