Geriatric mummy

Thread Starter

I'm a 49 year old 3rd time round mummy ( two other children of 29 & 27 )

I just wanted to pop by and say hello to every.

Being a mummy again has definitely had it's ups and downs but on the whole it's been a wonderful experience. One that I would never have thought I would ever be doing again.

People ask me if I'm afraid of being an older mum ( especially as the years progress ) and I have to say no, not at all.

I have read some of the threads on here and can relate totally with some of them.

I will take time to add my comments and thoughts to some of them.

I do write about my daughter in a blog form, if anyone would like to have a read. It covers most things, but in an amusing manner. Life is too short to be serious all the time. Children say and do funny things, which I try to tell honestly.

It would be lovely to hear from you.

Happy parenting

Great to see you here...I will be 42 on Monday and am raising my 5 year old granddaughter...I have had her since birth..I also have a 23 year old special needs son who lives out of state...I am seriously planning on having another this coming year if it is mean't to be for me..I don't want L growing up as an "only" child...And I would like to really have one more...I have also worried about being an older mom but I have a 5 year old so I can it isn't going to make much difference! :) I plan on checking out your blog first thing...I wish we had a forum here for older moms....It can get kind of lonely sometimes...

Hi

Lovely to have you reply to my thread.

Go you, thinking about having another child! Too many people think it's too late for them, but seriously it isn't!!!

As you have another child (albeit your grandchild) it won't make any difference adding to the family will it?

Good luck for when you start to try, I hope you have success early on.

You won't feel any different being a mum at 43 than you did when you were younger. It isn't any harder (you'll know this by having your grandchild already).

I agree, more sites like this could do with an older mum section. It's not like we are any different is it? But having others to relate to is quite important.

I used www.mothersover40.com to find like minded women and have 2 friends from there I keep in contact with (via Facebook). It's a good resourceful site and has a penpal section.

I hope you manage to read my blog. I have tried to make it funny!!!

I have 2 granddaughters, one aged 4 and the other 8 months... haha, we are destined to be rearing children in our old age!
