a little blood on 9 yo uncirced boy

My DS said he saw a lump under his foreskin and tried to work it out.  He thinks it might have been sand since we were at the beach today.  There was about a drop of blood on his penis after he worked the lump out.  He is able to urinate but doesn't want to retract his penis all the way because he says it hurts.  I had him sit in a warm bath, but is there anything else I should be doing for him?  He says it hurts "a little" but he is not the type of child to complain if he is hurting because he is already in that embarrassed about his body stage.  I'm afraid he won't really tell us it hurts because he doesn't want to talk about it.

That does sound painful. If there is some internal injury, I would wait a couple of days to see if this pain subsides. There's not a whole lot to be done if the foreskin does not retract. Avoid pain.

I'm sorry, but I'm stumped.  I think in a case like this, I'd try to get as many probiotics &/or fermented food into my child as possible to make sure the body is able to fight an infection if one starts or has begun; or anything else you have or routinely do to help the body w/ infection.  Possibly probiotic to the penis, as well.  Maybe probiotic mixed w/ some water & then dip the penis into it, repeated as many times a day as the child will tolerate.

I personally wouldn't be concerned about the drop of blood.  That's a tiny amount. The pain is what would concern me more.

Sorry I don't have a good, clear suggestion. hug2.gif

Best wishes,

Sus
