loving CD execpt for night time leaks

Thread Starter

So i'm way into CD and my DD does great almost 24/7 in them except at night. She is constantly leaking and I feel that she would stay asleep longer if she wasn't soaked through. She generally goes to bed with a double layer on and will make it about 5 hours before she's soaked. She will sleep for 7-8 straight if she doesn't soak through. Is there anyone out there who CD and makes it through the night?

What does your current nighttime diaper consist of?

We have always had the best luck with fitteds, tons of hemp inserts, and (well lanolized) wool covers.

Some examples...

* Motherease Bamboo One Size or Cotton Sandy's with a Thirsties Duo Insert (hemp/cotton & microfiber/microfleece) folded in half in pee area (up front for our boy), plus rectangular  hemp/cotton insert (folded the same) - PLUS another rectangular hemp/cotton insert in between diaper & cover (not folded)

* Baby Beehinds hemp one-size fitted (including 2 attached doublers) with rectangular hemp/cotton insert (folded in half) & Happy Heinys hemp oval insert inside - PLUS cotton gerber burp cloth tri-folded w/ another oval inside, between diaper & cover

* Bububébé cotton velour fitted (including 3 attached doublers, sometimes folded for boy) with a rectangular hemp/cotton insert (folded) and hemp oval inside - PLUS another rectangular hemp/cotton insert in between diaper & cover (not folded)

Hope that helps! :)

I would try a bamboo prefold and tri fold it, so it's nice and thick and even stick a hemp doubler insert thingy (or 2) that is what worked for us

Yup, it often depends on the kind of diaper you use. My DD would leak if I put her to sleep in a pocket diaper because she often slept on her side and there is no absorbent material in pockets except for right in the middle. However fitted diapers (we used Mother Ease fitteds with two of their inserts, they are pretty thin) worked much better as there was absorbency all the way around no matter which way she turned. Hope that helps!

I use sustainababish fitted and a simple cover. These are by far the best, it came with three inserts but I only use two (which snap right in). My daughter is only 9 months and started wetting heavier around 7 months. My local CD store recommended sustainababish, a little pricey but worth it!
