~Weekly Chat Thread for July 6th-12th~ - Page 3
I'm finding myself utterly annoyed by my four year old's snuggles all the sudden. Like being touched around my belly is Uncomfortable and annoying. But I love that he wants to love the baby so much. He keeps asking when baby will come so he can make him smile. So sweet but the touching is annoying me!
We returned from a 6 day vacation and the cat had to knead my belly. I wish baby had kicked her. It is 100 degrees here and I am not amused. I am sick of pregnancy, but terrified of the resulting baby. We have a several hr birth prep w doula this Saturday which we are looking forward to.
I second checking out milk sharing on eats on feet and human milk for human babies. I will be pumping for milkshare and likely posting there.
I am putting the kids down in bees bed, their choice. Monkey is out and bee keep playing duplo.
I am tired of pregnant. She can come at 37 weeks on the dot. I have my home visit for home birth at 36 weeks and I will be ready!
I am so glad that I am not the only cranky uncomfortable one. I feel so bad because I keep snapping at DD. I really over did it this morning doing farm chores and set of my round ligament pain. I could hardly move for a chunk of the day but it seems to have resolved itself now, just in time to do evening chores...
DHs work benefits kick in for his new job this week so I think I can see a chiro now. Yippee!
I am feeling quite happy as a whole though. I gave my DH the Birth Partner book as you ladies suggested and he read it an decided that we should get a doula! I feel so relieved as I have no family where we live and DH is out of town every other week. I feel like even if I go into labour when he is away, I still have support now. Its a big weight off my shoulders.
Came home today to find the couch swarming with ants. So, yeah, that deep cleaning is under way, whether I planned to do it now or not. Tons of vacuuming, washing the slip covers, cleaning the far reaches under the couch, and then baiting for ants... Hopefully I can get it finished tomorrow.
Sunday night I was woken with a very clear, strong, crampy ctx. And so they've now changed to lots of low crampiness, backaches, and sometimes teaming up with the previous whole-belly tightening/pressure waves. Now I'm wishing I had midwifery texts accessible to evaluate what the different types of ctxs mean. Anyone have a great resource or info off hand? I think I know the basics but I'd love to read more now.
Crafty, that is awful! Ugh! So sorry. I had to squeeze in the other day and was very worried about that, but the other car was occupied so it was a whole different scenario. I've had to climb through without kids or 8mo prego belly, though, and it was not fun!
Agile, so glad dh read it and opted for a doula! I can't tell you how much more I value doulas after being one myself for the last year. I'm really grateful to have one this time, too.
Calladonna, love having someone to commiserate with, but ugh! So sorry it's picking up so early for you. When do you typically hit real labor? I hope you got a break and can sleep. I think I will cope better with the knowledge that these episodes will continue to come and GO. It's just the idea of doing it for weeks on end without a break that kills me!
I too have times of little patience with DS, we have friends we have been hanging out with but their kids are 3 and 5 years older and not the best role models.
Crafty I hate when people can't park in the middle of a parking spot. Sorry you had to deal with that especially when you're at the end of pregnancy.
Afm: had my nst (go twice weekly) today. Baby has turned back vertex again, hopefully he stays this time. Have been having lots of contractions tonight. The crampy, full belly and backache kind. Though they don't seem to be coming regularly. Had small amount of bloody show this morning. Insomnia and swelling have been bad along with nausea. I suppose it is after midnight everywhere we are so only 8 days until my induction. I finally finished DS's room so now it is just all the things on my to do list to finish in the next week eek hopefully contractions stop so I can get things done.
Crafty- I'm really sorry. That ticks me off non- pregnant. I think next time you find yourself frustrsted when you're out, you should go back inside the cool store and have a slurpee from the cafe. Maybe not great for you, but great for your emotional well being
Oh Crafty, I'm sorry about that too. What a loser. If it makes you feel any better, I had an awful crying jag last night, finally got over it, and then saw the state of filth in my bathtub and started crying again...seriously...
Jillgayle, we had to supplement last time - I'm not familiar with that brand you mentioned, perhaps it wasn't available in our area five years ago when I did this the first time. But we used Earth's Best with very little issue. I felt like the ingredients were the least harmful and DS seemed to tolerate it very well. We bought it at Whole Foods by the case to get the discount.
Thanks for the suggestions on formula and sharing breastmilk. I had a breast reduction about 15 years ago, so while i will do all the things to help boost my own supply, it still may not be enough so I want to have some formula on hand. I have started the alfalfa supplements (which seem to be helping already at a 1/2 dose) and will probably start goat's rue at 38 weeks. I will look into the formula mentioned from diapers.com. I don't think i've ever heard of vermont organics. Re: sharing breastmilk, I will probably need to do a bit more research. I am really hesitant (and DH even more so) to use breastmilk that has not been formerly screened. If its a choice between formula and non-screened breastmilk i will go with formula.
Crafty: so sorry about target/parking. I would have really lost it. My patience is running so thin these days. I went off on a worker at a coffee shop for wanting to charge me for a cup of ice (when i was already buying other stuff)!
Congrats on those testing GBS neg. I'll have my test next week. For those who were + in previous pregnancies, anything you did different this time?
Crafty - I'm sorry. Someone did that to me at the zoo a few mos ago but I was at least able to get DD in without a problem and then had to climb over which I was not happy about. People....
Jill - I didn't take milk from any women I didn't know and trust and I can definitely understand not wanting to take milk from strangers. A few of them were my friends and one was my sister so it all worked out for us. I took More Milk Plus and I think that helped.
Stormi- definitely sounds like your body is gearing up to have your baby! Exciting!
Agile - excited for you about the doula. Have things calmed down with wt gain and baby growth worries?
Susan - sorry about all the ctx. I hope your baby stays in till full term. I know that's my worry with all my ctx, not that they're annoying, bc they are, but NICU intimidates me.
Congrats to the GBS- ladies. I think I get tested at 36 although my NP said sometimes they test earlier with twins.
I have such a miserable headache and am still sick. Didn't sleep well and DD was so loud this a.m. Sometimes I think we'll get to full term no problem and then I have bad nights with long strong ctx and worry we're going to go to the hospital that night so I think this whole situation is a one day at a time thing. 33-1 now. 6 more days till my next goal and OB appt and growth u/s. Baby A is very much footling breech still. Not sure anything is going to make him change his position now.
not to completely take over, but for those who might be interested, i finally found an article comparing ingredients in organic formulas that is pretty current and includes Whole Foods own brand.
Banana I had bought some EPO, but after reading I got worried that I would bring on labour earlier than my scheduled induction. The whole point of the induction is that I have to be off of my blood thinners due to its half life for 24 hours before the induction. Even with my clotting issue I had hemmorrhaged with my DS's birth. So best to not have my blood too thin. So with some bloody show already at 36w5d and contractions I am not sure about using the EPO. I had used it with DS and he was born at 39w2d. What has been your experience with it?
My GBS was positive with DS and this time is negative thought I can't tell you what I did differently :^|
